    Restricted in Auckland

Can anyone recommend a good place to do an instructor led trial restricted test up here in Auckland? Is it worth doing one of these before the official one?

I did mine at Souf Auckland, Manukau perhaps? Of course, I have nothing to compare it to, but I found it all very easy. Earpiece, which made things a little easier (until it cut out and started wailing in my ear, slightly offputting -- just watch for the indicators in the mirror. He seemed to be aware of difficulties with the earpiece that day).

The other good thing about doing the test in Souf is that the instructor has been testing completely useless shithead drivers the whole day, and even if you're only slightly mediocre he'll tell you `wow, thanks, that was the best performance I've seen all day!' Plus, the intersections seem to be reasonably straightforward in Souf, not like the bizarre Give Way/traffic light/roundabout combinations you see on the Shore.

Have fun, I was worried, but there's really no need to be. Keep an eye on the speed limit signs

Wait, you're wondering whether you do a restricted test lesson?

No way lol if you can ride a bike, and ride to the law, then you'll pass.

Oh I didn't see that. Such a thing exists?

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about doing that. I would think it's pretty difficult to fail as long as you follow the road rules.

I must admit I have thought of doing a 'lesson' I know my road rules etc been driving for ever but I have a hearing impairment so only one ear goes and I am a bit nervous about not being able to hear other traffic.
Also when I did my car all those moons ago I got a telling off for not using my rear vision and side mirrors enough, but I actually used them heaps, I just dont turn my head when I look at something... So I wonder if that will come up when I do my restricted...
    hmmmm... food for thought

Phils Motorcycles in west aucks!!!!! I can't recommend him enough!!!!!! One lesson from him and I rode away feeling waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more confident and capable!!!!! It's all good practicing, but you need to know what to practice as well!!!!!!

Caters to all levels too, I went to him after I got my learners! He is an awesome guy to boot!!!!!!

yo man i was in ur boat and i got my restricted down on quay street...and believe me if i could pass then there is no way you wont pass...lol.Their real nice down there and you (hopefully) get an ear piece so that you dont have to be watching in ur mirrors the whole time...it seems that they either take you round the arena and back roads round there or round parnell back roads, simple as, and i think the fact that its pretty hectic busy actually works in your advantage cos they are a bit more lenient..like this truck came out of nowhere while i was taking test and i passed it like an idiot forgetting to indicate and stuff..but heh i aint gona comlain, at the end of the day i am still not over the novelty of having no disgusting yellow plate following me around...
