Is this a TT or an XT?

The title says it all really, this bike is on Trademe at the moment and is described as a TT500 but I'm not so sure so hopefully some of the guru's out there can point out where I'm wrong.

It had the alloy swingarm and the TT headlight but it also has indicators which they never had (and still don't require for a WOF - but that's another story) and those gold wheels don't look right. I can't tell from the pictures if it's a cush-drive rear but they may even be XT250 wheels as a lot of them were gold. Did they ever put gold wheels on the TT or XT500?
I have searched bikepics and can't find anything that looks like this bike.

They rarely sell under $2500 for even the rough ones and most in this kind of condition go for $4-5k. There is an XT in parts on Turdeme at the moment for $800 and it's missing the back wheel and a lot of the little bits that always seem to add up to another grand in my experience.

    Yeh, a TT.
Looks pretty bloody original though....'cept the wheels (pretty sure the TT's didn't have goldies)...how long since ya seen one with an original muffler????
    $2500 is pretty reasonable nowadays...

thought it was an XT when i first saw it, hard to source original parts for these old girls so i wouldn't be surprised if it's carrying XT500/250 parts.
dont know bout the gold rims, indicators are just add on's.
get the engine and chassis number they could tell you a tale or to.
tidy looking bike though, as with all older bike's i would definately trace numbers before buying.

Yep....the XT500 got gold rims in 1980....not so sure now, I always thought the XT had monoshock and the TT not, but looking at a few on the web it seems my memory is a little fuzzy
There ya go, the first is the '80 XT, The second is both, note the alloy arm on the TT....

Yes the swingarm is TT so probably the rest of the bike is too except the wheels. I'd love to build an HL500 replica too mmmmmm

Would love to own another one, one day. the one I had had the evil temprement of throwing light weight riders over the handel bars when she kicke back, this could be quiet vischious.
