Condolences to family & friends.. RIP Zukin
RIP Zukin. Sorry to hear about this.
R.I.P. Zukin, very sad.
R I P Zukin. I never met you, but admired your exploits with your 'Ride for Life.'
Carry on your Ride for Life in the sky.
"Statistics are used as a drunk uses lampposts - for support, not illumination."
I spoke to Zukin/Scott more than a few times by PM and in threads on KB, but only met him in the flesh, so to speak, twice.
The first time is a treasured memory, because normally I have to alter my mood chemically to participate in mild civil disobedience.
The first cheesecutter protest ride (there shall be more) arrived at Parliament to find the gates locked, and Parlimentary security trying to look hard arse.
MSTRS introduced me to Zukin. Scott and I had been butting heads about the whole, "deliver unto Parliament the message of the Motorcyclists", with me being more than a little negative about the idea. He stuck his hand out, we shook, and being parked next to the only gate left unlocked outside Parliament, as soon as our eyes met we both silently agreed that quietly parking on the road was a little too meek and promptly rode up the curb, through the gate, lapped the Ballance Statue and parked up.
A couple of chaps with necks far thicker than the measured diameter of their cranium tried it on and Scott managed to settle them down and let the few of us that rode our bikes up there move them back out to the street with dignity, but the point had been well made.
You can't have a motorcyclist's protest without a motorcycle in view, particularly at a place that we are all supposed to be a part of, to, in some small part, claim ownership.
A courageous man, given to courageous undertakings. It is a desperate shame that he came a cropper on a bike.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Scott posted a poem that he wrote titled:
"Oh to be on an adventure ride" in the adv forum. I'm not thinking too straight at the moment, (the loss of a friend does that to me). Could someone please link it to this thread.
I think it speaks volumes about his passion and love of life/freedom, and riding.
Thank you.
Here ya go mate...

Ride, eat, sleep, repeat!
In motorcycling there are many things that I can control.
My mindset. My attitude towards others. The direction I choose to travel.
But what I can not control is the passing of friends and loved ones.
Because of this, I take this moment to remember them.
To the fallen.
RIP
Rip Zukin. I wish I knew him better...
My condolences to friends and family.
Folks, be careful out there!!!
"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule
Although I only knew Scott a short time, he was the sort of person you felt you'd known for ages. So outgoing, so full of life and adventure. You didn't have to work at getting to know him, after 10 minutes of first meeting Scott he managed to make you feel like you were old friends.
There are no words to say how sad this is, he will be missed by so many, none more so than Carissa and Lani. My heart goes out to you, I am so so sorry.
Jim (my partner) and Kyle (Busajim and ZeRax) who were privileged to be on this last adventure with Scott made it back to Wellington last night, after first passing through Napier to see the family. They are understandably incredibly sad, shocked and still trying to come to terms with what has happened.
No doubt when the time is right they will have words to post, but now is the time for remembering what a great guy Scott was and what a huge amount of fun he brought into so many lives. I always felt Jim was in good hands when he was "adventuring" with Scott. I trusted him like a brother.
Thank you Zukin.. you will not be forgotten.
Such a tragic loss and very very sad news. Condolences to the family, may your hearts be full of happy memories.
