{A motorbike adventure is a must for you to do
As long as I am part of the crew
    Without an agenda, and places to visit}

What beautiful words that Scott wrote, the ones above resound with me and I would guess all riders.

Kia kaha Lani & Carissa, know that you are in our thoughts and that Scott loved you.
    RIP Scott

    Ride well forever Scott. RIP
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Gurlracer, I met your dad twice last year on the Whangamomona ride and the MMMMM ride. I hope you don't mind but I have attached a photo that I took of him on the MMMMM ride. That pictures sums him up for me, the big wave, and the smile under his helmet. What it doesn't show is that he was more that happy riding tail end charlie that day (and seemed to always end up riding behind me!)

As someone earlier said, why does this sort of thing happen to the nice guys?

What more can I say, I am lost for words.

Gurlracer my thoughts are with you and your family at this very sad time.

    Scott RIP

Maria and I were both so shocked to read of this.

We only met Scott once, at the scooter shop when he called in during the ride for life, but he (indeed the entire family) made a big impression on us.

Our sincere condolances to the family, and extended family.

    In Tribute

It's taken me two days to be able to post after getting this terrible news on Friday night. Lord, why do the good die young?

Nasty and I met Scott, Carissa, Lani and 7 friends when we opened our home and hearts to the cause they embarked on 4th Feb 2007, a challenge to themselves and others to support cancer research and funding. Instead of the Walk for Life, Scott and Carissa decided to do a Ride for Life (thread) which rode the entire coastline of New Zealand to raise funds and awareness. Take a minute and read the tread and especially the first post. It was a remarkable undertaking and one which typified many of the things that have been said about Scott in this thread.

We all had a great night in Wellington with a BBQ for the Ride for Life riders and about 20 Welly KBer's. Wonderful, unforgettable, fun and treasured KB stuff. I think I have it right that Carissa basicly got on a bike to do this ride with Scott, I'm not sure that she's ridden much since. Lani and Scott's mum came along too as support vehicle - three remarkable young people and a pretty cool mum as well.

The ride finished after 21 days, back in the Hawkes Bay at the 24hr Walk for Life which was taking place that weekend in their home town of Taradale. I think I have the numbers about right, Scott and Carissa raised more than $7,000 and I think in the end was nearly $10,000 (I hope I got those remarkable numbers correct). Their efforts were celebrated publicly at the walk as you can see from this tribute photo montage.

I last rode with Scott over the Napier-Taupo road to get to the Cheescutter Protest meeting in Taupo. Our group wasn't that quick and he waited after the main HB group had gone, making sure we got there on time. That's just the sort of thing that he did.

Carissa, Lani - gutted. I wish there was more to say to make it better or more palatable - but there isn't and that hurts the most.

Our thoughts go out to you, your Mum and friends of Scott !
    Remakable man !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

I've just arrived home having been internetless since Wednesday to meet this terrible news. Its bad enough I am dealing with the tragedy of my Bro' getting cancer way before his time and having to quit biking for now, but an instant death like this is a big shock.

I met Zukin through his words on here back in 2006 so we agreed to meet up in Hawkes Bay to do our first ride together along with my Bro', Zukin's Bro' and Mrs merv. We've managed to do a few rides together since which I've always throughly enjoyed and have posted the stories and pics on here as well. He was one of the more competent gravel road riders I have ridden with, which makes this an even bigger surprise to me. He was quick but always in control in my presence.

You'll be sadly missed mate - ride on in whatever place you have now gone to and you will always be in our hearts.
    Cheers

    Merv

After completing the Suzuki Ride for Life - Zukin produced this video. Just a reminder for all of us really of an absolutely special man.
