I am completely stunned, I just found this terrible news.

I met Scott on my first ever KB ride, We exchanged the odd PM here and there.
I loved reading Scott's ride reports and was so impressed with the suzuki ride for life and was sooo looking foward to talking with him about it, Mum has had the big bad C twice now... I really hoped i would get to do the next ride for life with him.
I had planed to go on the HUB ride and was really looking foward to it, but work went crazy and we just had to keep working...12 days straight... Before i knew it, I get a minute to look on the KB site and ......

I did not know until only a few minutes ago, and i am so sorry, i would have been there today.

A great guy and a real inspiration to so many.

I am so so sorry, my thoughts are with you all.

Ive never been to funeral quite like it. Felt like i had a stone in my throat for such a long time. Then it would go away with the laughter.
He certainly was a good husband, father and friend to so many people.

Thanks Grub for the great write up. Numbers? I was thinking that while i was sitting in there, and i was truly stunned. My guess is 500-600+
Zukin you were well thought of.

    RIP mate

I met Scott, Carrisa and Lani during the Ride for Life trip. I rode up to Levin to meet them on the trip down to Wellington. Even in the short time we had to chat over the BBQ at Scooters Plus, I found Scott to be so passionate about bikes and his family. I joined them at Brett and Kari's for the BBQ that night and offered my rental for the night to their support crew.
I met up with them again as they came back from the South Island and rode most of the way up to Napier.
It is only now that I have realised that I work with Jim who was with him when this tragic accident happened.
Work commitments stopped me attending the funeral yesterday because I so wanted to be there
My sincere condolences go out to Carrisa and Lani.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
    BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!

A big thank you goes out to the HB KB crew for helping so many people in so many ways.
I'm home safe n sound, and on the ride home today I was thinking of the huge amount of people that Scott has helped/encouraged/been there for.
If I'm to take one thing out of this past weekend, it is to try to embrace life with a tenth of the energy and passion that Scott had.
I'll try mate, but it's a big ask.

Special thanks to Gixxer 4 ever and family for making my stay in HB very pleasant, and to wasp27 and crew for putting the work in.
    HB rocks!

Guys .. thanks for the awesome work up there this week which made coming up to Napier easier ... to be able to offer to Lani and Carrisa the gift of our skills and to give them a few of the memories that may have been one day lost.

We have just arrived back in Wellington safely.

Glad to hear that all our out-of-towners made it home safely. Thanks for making the effort to be here. It helped all of us who were close to Scott, and in turn I'm sure we helped you guys too.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    I didn't. I got another speeding ticket.

    Still.

I hereby dedicate that particular twist of the throttle to Scott.

I never met the man in person, but I was proud to have the opportunity to pay my respects at his funeral.

    May he rest in peace.

BusaJim, myself, ZeRax (Kyle) and Tammy all back in Wellington safely. What a sad but amazing experience it has been.
To have a mother, wife and daughter get up and speak with such love and pride was extremely moving and something I'll never forget. It really reminded me that above all else, Scott loved his family dearly.

Thank you for letting us be part of it.

    It would seem so, yes.

Then again, I didn't expect a second HP car on the plains following the first one (which I'd given a cheery wave as I rode past at entirely legal speeds) a couple of minutes later.

Eternal vigilance would appear to be the price of freedom.
