    I have been spoiled...

    ok, I've owned the YZF750R for just over a week now, put about 200k's on it, so after getting home from doing some banking today I thought I'd take the ol' CBR250R out for a blast...

    What the hell was I thinking!

    It's slow, short, with crap suspension, brakes, no acceleration, and is so thin I though I was riding on a Steppy!

    The only redeeming feature it has compared to the YZF is that it corners so much tighter, which I had some fun with once I'd taken it to the servo and topped off the tank.

    It's amazing, after 5 years of riding the CBR, I find out how much more is really out there.

    So.. it's more like a "minor puff of wind on an otherwise still day" than a Hurricane?
    What were the Japs thinking? Obviously, somewhat wishfully...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Just quietly Blakamin, Jim had just decided to buy this particular bike and rang the bike shop about the same time as Monsterbishi was filling out the forms...

    You compare a 750cc to a 250cc bike, clearly something wrong here...

    Hehe, funny thing is I took an ex racing 1996 Yamaha RJ 1000 for a testride, made me really appreciate my CBR, for several reasons.
    1 It felt too heavy and lumbering, didn't have anywhere near the "flickability" of my CBR
    2 It wasn't particularly impressive through the low/midrange, and I didn't get to test the top end which apparently came in at 8k rpm, as I would have been doing about 80kph in first before hitting the power.

    I've also found that the CBR has quite good acceleration 0-100, I reckon it would do it in about the 5 second range. Which is perfect for normal road use, still I can't wait to get a 600 cause there's always room for more power, I just want to make sure the bike is as fun to ride as my little 250.

    Oh yeah, can't forget that even the slightest breeze will send the CBR off in a random direction...

    The real aim of my topic creation though, was to proclaim my ignorance, in the respect that pre-YZF I thought the bigger bikes out there wouldn't be that much better than my CBR, and I was quite wrong.

    For what it is, the CBR is still a fantastic bike.

    ps. Jim, sorry 'bout poaching the YZF, I didn't even know about the existance of Kiwibiker until I purchased it and went Googling for forums :-)

    5mm spacer (ground down washer is fine) under the shock will raise the rear end about 15mm & quicken the steering. Also dropping the forks 8mm will do likewise. You will wonder why you waited so long to do it. Fortunately you’ve just got the bike so you don’t need to wait. When I got mine the rear tyre was shagged & new tyres made it steer that much better as well.
