Can I respond as a K1200R owner? It has the same luggage system in any case, and minor power difference due to single air intake.
I'm 6'4" and was first drawn to it for it's comfort. I've ridden 500kms+ a number of times touring with no issues...feel like you can just keep going.
It feels very light, especially compared with other 1200's. I love that I can ride it around town and it has so much torque it just pulls along, and out of town I can open it up and it's a different beast. I test rode Aprilia's and Ducati's before buying this and found they were way too twitchy for my liking. I was riding with the e-riders group on the weekend and a few guys jumped on (they had a Bandit 1200 and Daytona 675) and both were surprised how light it felt. A mate who is a bike mech in Kapiti called me up the other day to remark on having worked on another bike like how awesome it is to ride and how balanced it is.
Fuel - I would say 250kms on a tank (19L from memory) would be a good average. Closer to 300 on some rides if it's open roads without twisting the wrist too much.
If that is of use feel free to PM with any other questions.
