A new BMW triple sports bike

Reading MCN this morning reveals that BMW are to introduce a new sports bike powered by a 675cc TRIPLE motor. No pictures of it as yet. But I bet Triumph are a bit pissed of about it. I am a Triumph rider. Have been for years now, but I could be tempted into buying a Beemer triple. How about you?

Benelli and MV Agusta are 'supposedly' bringing out a sports 675cc triple, as well as BMW.

Competition can only lead to better products at better prices! Nothing wrong with that.
A 675 triple race class!! That would be fun.

More 675cc triples in World Supersports has got to be a good thing. Makes sense though. They're entering WSBK with an all new bike so why not tap into the extremely lucrative 600's class.

I think that's the idea of the 675cc figure -- 600cc fours, 675cc triples, and 750cc twins. I don't think anybody's daft enough to use a single these days but it'd be open rating, wouldn't it?

Ah is that how it works. Thanks for pointing that out. It will be interesting to see the Triumph and the BMW 675's having a tussle. Now a purely hypothetical question. Which do you reckon would be the better performed bike on the race track? Corser on one, and Rossi on the other?

I see in the latest AMCN that Alan Cathcart reported seeing two fully built 675cc triple motors at the MV Agusta factory. Shit he must have keen eye sight to look at an engine and figure out the measurements of the internal chamber!
AMCN were also spreading more rumours that BMW will release their 675 triple in 2010 as a supersport race contender.

Sneak pics are in the latest UK MCN of the 2009 Triumph Daytona. Just a minor facelift. Headlights more like the 05 Kwaka 636 and wider mirrors. wow, they really went all out. Actually the current Owners are pleased because the less changes means less pressure to have the latest looker.

BMW & MV have their work cut out to compete with the well priced and proven Daytona. I can't see MV & BMW coming in at the same price as the Daytona, so they need another good reason to convince/trick Buyers to spend more on their bike - which only leaves performance. Don't like their chances.
