Blah SCORE! CBR MC19 for 1k

Managed to score an mc19 cbr250r for $1000 this week. Its done 35,000km's and has CURRENT WOF with reg just expired! The bike had been sitting for a couple of months before i bought it and its runnin well but abit hard to start especially this mornin in the cold when i managed to drain the battery. How much will a service cost? maybe balance the carbs too? I am missing the side fairings too so does anyone know where i could get them?

The bike also came with about 2L of oil, a new oil filter and chain lube but the best part of the deal was he threw in some leathers too!

Hopefully decent updated pics to come of my new baby>>>> thats providing im not out riding!

    Until then have alook here!

Nice score bro....does not look too bad just need a bit of tidying up. Change oil and filter (DIY) $70 easy, new battery $80, if idling rough the carb balancing from the shop $250 - $300. Brake pads $90 to $130 (3 pairs) DIY.

But I suppose a general service will cost at least $300 for a 250cc and it really depends what you are replacing. You gonna love riding this bike...

P.S. if you need spark plugs I can sort some for cheaper than what the bike shop sells them..

He states it comes with side fairings, what happened to that?

Either way, nice score mate. It'll be a good bike if you respect it's limits and your own. At this stage of riding, it's limits far surpass yours..

The fairings will be quite expensive, but looks around in the parts section on trademe, there's quite a few Cbr's out and about.

FOR SALE: '88 Yamaha FZX 750, low k's and decent condition. Looking for around 4.5K. Drop us a pm, view it any time. Oh, and trades considered for cruisers or naked sporties.

    I could do with a deal... MC22 '91.

It's looking a bit rough, but after a good tidy up the bike will run like a dream. The KM's are excellent for it's age, and if you intend to re-sell it, you could get around $3500 for it, as an estimation.

Servicing prices range, depending on what is needed to be done. Balancing isn't cheap, but a simple thing like changing the filters etc is a home job, so it's relatively cheap.

Well done mate, you're going to have a BALL!

Yeah i deffinitely enjoy riding this bike as it isnt gutless like my previous gn and has abit of power to learn to ride nicely. I'm gonna take it slow and get it runnin mint then paint it a nice colour! It'll probly take me a year or more on 12.50 an hour but i think that will just make it more precious! As for the fairings the dude i got it off never had them but honestly im not complainin aye!

Just read a post above for carb balancing - U1aGo has a system for blanacing carbs attached to his wall, and I've got the tools as well (my CBX takes forever and I swear alot), so scratch the $300 for that bit.

Oil and filter are a given, new airfilter, yep, and we'll take a look to see that the ellecy bits are working as they should be.

This weekend aye, I'll get onto U1aGo, he's the carb balancing master.
