No, the peg got torn clean off and it's pretty mangled - the bolts holding it to the frame snapped as the bike leapt up and fell down on it's right hand side.
All in all I am surprised nothing except the handlebars and the footpeg got scraped.

Having thought about the whole ordeal tonight I believe what happened is this:

I'm coming through the corner nice and easy at about 40 km/h onto a fairly straight bit. I have the sun in my eyes and can't see the thick layer of grit covering the road. I open up the throttle slightly and the rear starts spinning and stepping out - so far no worries. I keep a bit of throttle on to keep the wheel spinning until I've gotten the bike in a nice straight line. Then I think the tyre hits a grit-free spot and catches more or less doing a wheeling while I'm still on an angle, catches me completely of guard and then it's all over rover and I land on my back.

Mind you all of this happened so fast I'm not entirely sure. But I do remember starting to slide, keeping a bit of throttle on and countersteering to get the bike straightened up - then I got thrown off and landed on my arse, shoulder and head.

Then I got up, picked the bike up - oddly enough the bike had tilted over away from me, as it had highsided but left me behind - put the broken footpeg in my backpack and then I rode home.

as you get older you notice you dont 'bounce' as well as you used to and the 'bounce' hurts more....

rest that head of yours and stop repeating yourself
I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

    Yeah

Nah, internet SNAFU - for some reason KB seemed to lock up and being the impatient bastard I am I kept on clicking the [submit reply] button.

Looking at cleaning it up now.

For fucks sake - a new footpeg takes 3 fucking weeks to get here from Europe. Big thumbs down to the Husky importers for not keeping stuff like that in stock!

Hopefully Don will be able to sort a temporary solution out using the *badly* mangled one.

3 fucking weeks I'm going to go stircrazy I think!

urgh mike that sounds lame dude!

I went for a flick with mark on sunday and hit a patch of dry gravel that was kind of in a dip in the surface of the road, back wheel went sideways but i just kept looking ahead and she straightened up.

the stuff is everywhere, although last i checked dyers pass had been broomed (except for that right hand corner after the corner that closes up)

    take it easy bruv.

Good to see you are alright.

Sad about the bike getting a beating. I make it no small secret what sort of bikes I like BUT... yesterday at work I was talking to my boss about your bike. It really is a hot bike. You just had to go add some "character" to it didn't you :P

The nastiness is not so much the grit itself - it's the transition from gritty slidy bits to tarmaccy grippy bits that's the problem.

Good thing you stayed on top!

Dyer's was nice for a change - the Summit road was covered in grit. Had a bit of a slide just turning up onto the Summit Road at the Sign of the Kiwi and was taking it really easy.

I'm quite pleased with it It certainly is a lot of fun and I haven't even started scratching at the limits of it's performance.
This little spill won't add much character to it though... The scraping on the handlebar will be covered with the new throttle sleeve, handle and lever guards.
It'll get a new footpeg when it gets here... eventually.

Don is a top guy and I just took the mangled unit in to him today and he'll try and sort out some temporary solution 'til the new part gets here.

Had a bit of an angry drive home to get it, back through town... seemed to be an even higher percentage of idiots, fuckwits and wankers on the road than usually - got to use the horn a lot
I'm less angry now, the mean greenie should be done later this week and I can not help feeling very happy about that.

Sorry mate, only just saw this.

    Bummer.

Look around bike parks and bike shops. Find any Husky. Steal its footpeg.

Not many 2006 610SM/TEs around and none of the other bikes sitting at the Husky dealer have the same sort of footpegs. However, fortunately it shouldn't be too much of an issue anyway...

Don at Pitlane is getting the mangled footpeg straightened out so it can do the job while I wait for the new one to arrive. And also, the mean greenie should be good to go today or tomorrow
