Thanks for the offer RentaThriumph, have send you a PM, and may take you up on that offer.
Been to see Bismarcks bike last night:

Bike was harder and harder to start, not running on no 3 cylinder in the end.
One morning it just would not start anymore at all......

Drained carb bowls, and they refilled.
4 CV carbs, but the previous shop service had put the springs back wrong in the 2 righthand side carbs....(slides could open 70 %)
Also they removed aiirfilter rather then replaced....
We fixed that, so fuel should be fine

Had not the right sort of sparkplug puller with me for this bike/plugs, so made do with hooking up another sparkplug onto the no 1 lead, and onto the no 4 lead.
Both sparked, so both coils seem to perform......
Next thing would be to go back with more tools and try to remove all 4 plugs....

Failing to fire up after thatmeans we have to go the a repairshop indeed...

hey, you might want to check but i thought one coil serviced cylinders 1 and 4 and the second coil serviced cylinders 2 and 3.

i've had quite a few inline 4 kwakas and i think thats how they are. if thats correct, you haven't actually tested the second coil. easiest way to check is to trace the ht leads back to the coils.

    good luck with the troubleshooting.

    All 4 plugs were buggered....
I did measure coils through.... they were fine, but had not the right tools to pull plugs last night
Checked Fuelside instead, and good we did.......
Scary part was that workshop in Gisborne had done $300 service....
    No plugs replaced
    Airfilter removed
    2 CV carbs wongly reassembled
    manifold screws lose
gasket between carbs and airfilter housing broken, BUT replaced with generous dollop of grease.......

This morning pulled plugs, went to town to get 4 new ones at $20 each, and she fired up on first go.....

Andy reckons it runs a lot smoother and better with all 4 carbs performing......
Anyway, he should be able to do his licence this friday.....
Bike is very tidy and well groomed by the way....

    Good luck

Bismarck had not been to Banks Penninsula yet, so yesterday my last day off, blue skies, full licences and full tanks of petrol...( yes Bismarck got his full licence last friday.......)

    Time to celebrate:
It was a great day for a little blast, bit of grit on some corners, bugger all traffic,
Couldn't have picked a better day, postcard pretty scenerey and twisties galore.....
By the end of the day Bismarck was warming up to our kind of roads, and the corners became smoother and smoother.
Sunstrike on the way back slowed things down consderably though...Made it back just after dark....

I bet you when the wednesday evening rides start again we will see a sharpened Bismarck along on a bigger bike!

A nice little blast it was indeed, so back to work I go....

words fail me... that was a wonderful effort that you put in. Top marks to you and i do hope that karma hits and all your good work comes back to you 10 fold. It must be nice to be mechanically minded and be able to help others. i am very impressed and warmed by your attitude. Well done.
