It seems to have the power (was the best in a few magazine shoot outs) but the biggest difference I found was that the front end felt planted and not airy fairy and vague like the Gixxer.

Oh - heres one hot accountant too.
Christ, I thought that was my evil ex, almost spitting image, except the lady in the picture is missing horns and a pitch fork.

The 07 was dull, haven't ridden an 08 yet. The 07 felt like a CBR600 to me, flat delivery, but handled well with a planted front end that was confidence inspiring. The Gixer was more animal, required more faith, but felt a heap faster and more involved. The K5 1000 is the best one, aside from the k2, the K2 still has the most torque (when it's worked like mine... )

ScumDog, you're the coolest Harley owner on KiddieBiker. You could wear a pink shirt and still be cool. And I'm not knocking choice, difference is good, if we all saw the world my way we'd declare war on Britney Spears instead of picking on oil rich Muslim nations...

Try the 08 CBR thou. You might be pleasantly surprised. The engine has that 'raw' growl like the Gixxer and heaps of power on tap - it was sooooo much more responsive than my 05 CBR.

so if gixxer riders are strange, does that make me only slightly strange, passing strange or strange-but-she-grew-out-of-it?

I just couldn't get enthusiastic about riding the new one, it looks better in the flesh than in mags, but still wasn't fussed. The new RC8 on the other hand; what a fine looking piece... Interesting that all the bike mags rate the 08 CBR as "the bike". Big leap as opposed to gentle evolution on the gixers.
