I wonder if that is because Honda went to a single ring set up after 04. I find my 04 had heaps of bottom end and Gr81 said it was like a 4 stroke!
Each to their own at the end of the day.

Other things that you can look at for more bottom end is fitting a reed spacer if yours does not already have one and if there is a washer like gasket between the pipe and the cylinder you can add a couple more.
Also retarding the timing slightly for smoother hook up is always a good idea for off road use.
yeah that littel gasket on mine fucked out and I replaced it and it had heaps more power. My poor old bike needs some TLC after Tarawera.
the single ring and redisigned exaust port / housing in 05 was aparently to improve bottom end.
on that note, 2 more people i know bought 05 CR250s yesterday having ridden a variety of modern bikes to see what they liked.
also got my trailer modded yesterday, so i can fit 6 bikes in my rig as well as 6 people now lol
Dont even bother with a pipe they usually make next to no difference. The cr250`s go really good stock, ive had 1 dyno`d with stock system then put a pro circuit pipe+muffler and vortex reed bolck and it was .3 horse more, felt no different on the track usually they just louder so you think its faster
fmf fattys make a cr250 heaps quicker than stock
