It all depends on where you go, there's something for everyone up there.... Take a friend and go for a play...

Oh and when your new up there a good general rule of thumb might be to try and avoid going down anything that you don't think you could get back up.... as you just might have to!

More than happy to show you around a bit sometime if you want to flick me a pm

Well, for free you can go to the north or south sides of the waimak.
There are some motox style circuits on the north side, just down the road from Kaiapoi. The entrance is by the garage at the old waimak bridge, where the jetboaters go. Follow the road in until you find them.

Past those tracks are 4wd and single tracks going a long way up the river.

Himatangi/Tangimoana is cool mate, give it a blast. There's also Motuiti MX track in foxton which i think is an honesty box donation (but there has to be a club member present or something) or you can join the club and pay for a years worth of key access to the track. I think its called "gold coast MX club" or something. Best try to contact them and get the info. Go to Silverbullet.co.nz and look under "clubs"

There's also heaps of trail rides up your way if ya don't mind popping over to masterton etc. Have a hoon on some of these. they're cheap as and good fun. Have a look on silverbullet for these ride too. There's one coming up this Sunday in Otaki

I was hopeing you might be able to tell us about some secret access into the hills over your way? lol

i wish i knew some ways into them hills, but think its all private or protected or whatever, maybe just find someone with a farm that backs onto them and set up a ramp over the fence

Just wondering what road or how you get to Himatangi/Tangimoana is it near the beach .... ? I went up checked out Himatangi beach and can only ride a bike there if registered.

Although on the way back stopped to have a look at Peka Peka Beach says cars and bikes are permitted all the way up to Te Horo and down to Waikane and nothing about having to be registered .

    Cheers. CB
