theres a backbackers up arnd whangarei. its called the farm. theres 1000 acres of farmland and it offers a challenge in sum places.

    http://www.thefarm.co.nz/frameset_home.htm

i think you have to stay to ride on the land though. if you dont have a bike but just want to stay up there for a break away from town it is a good place to stay.

    Hi All,

I'm heading up to Mangawhai for the long weekend, does anyone know about riding up round there? I've seen bikes in the Tomorata forest, is there track in there? Are you allowed in there?

I've been to the farm, great place, really really friendly people. You don't have to stay, can just turn up and ride, but its a fair hike up there from Auckland, a good hour or so from Whangarei, and given the prices to stay/camp, its worth making a weekend of it.

Finnally, has anyone ridden the tracks behind the train tracks in Glen Eden/Henderson along West Coast road? Looks like some good stuff up the Henderson end, accessed from the end of Rangeview Road by the subdivision that never happened? Is it any good?

    Cheers

Oh man was the clay wet and slippery, I learned how to control a front and rear wheel drift today... now to master it on the right hand side!

    Wellington off road

    Just bumping this up...

You can ride at the MX park at Slipway, Brooklyn

I rang and spoke to the Landowner today, looking to head up to Brooklyn this arvo, its $20 a bike and he has a MX track and also over 50km of trails. At least its legal, if a bit extra cost...meh if its good, then its just like Laser strike or paintball...it all costs

    sounds good, should be fun!
