hell, my viragos aluminum looks worse than that. thats nothing major. but, its 10 years old, and been ridden in all weathers. it can be repaired, but i havent tried it, so wont recommend it. an ex of mine said to use sandpaper, gradually working through the grains till you are on a very fine one, before switching to a rag. it takes a long time, but the results are worth it. again, i dont recommend this unless you know what you are doing.

as for saying that you cant expect a bike to last for the price, thats bollocks. as someone else said, someone saved up and loved that bike, and it should last a hell of a lot longer than that. i was cleaning my 06 every other week, with all the kit, and it still rusted like fuck. no amount of cleaning would have prevented it. im almost certain some of the rust was there before i even rode it home.

My GN was like that. I just assumed it was because I kept it in the carport.. Guess it wasn't!

    Update from owner

Someone keeps complaining to Trade-me about the add and I have to keep calling Trade-me to get it re-instated.

The case is going to the Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal on August 25th.
I chose the MDVT instead of the normal disputes tribunal because it is adjudicated by a barrister with advice from a mechanic. The normal disputes tribunal uses a JP or someone that is not necessarily from a legal background.

I am expecting an order that MR Motorcycles will need to replace all corroded parts because:
    1) The warranty DOES cover corrosion of fundamental parts. The exclusion is for paint, trim, chrome and OTHER APPEARANCE ITEMS. The corroded parts are NOT appearance items.
    2) It is covered under the Consumers Guarantees Act because a reasonable person would not have purchased the bike if they had known what the corrosion would be like after 11 months.

After I get the ruling, I will post details to help others who have simillar problems.

And doesn't come close to "merchantable quality"

It's a crock dude, some goods may be very cheap indeed, and be worth next to nothing at all.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon

Worth next to nothing? He's asking nearly $2000 more for the bike than what he paid for it? Sounds like this bike was a good investment! LOL!:

I think that the listing in question was a pisstake, and he was just pissed off at how his bike is disintegrating right before his eyes, and he wanted to spread the word.

Agree, but he wont be helping his case if he showing an adtv stating "Genuine sale" for much more than he paid, very unwise!

Well they should up their quality & up their price a bit.
There seems to be this attitude that, hey, its made in China, its gonna be shit, build a bridge & stop complaining.
Well fuck them, if they want to unload shit that dosent even last a year, i see no reason why they shouldnt take it back, & up the arse to boot.
Nobody demands lowest grade for lowest price, Thats just the Chinese strategey of forcing all the other players out of contention until they are the only manufacturers left & we will have to accept their shit at whatever price they ask, because there will be no other manufacturers left.

best of luck dude, good choice on the MVDT.

do your homework, learn the CGA in and out, do a time line of the events, (both detailed and a basic) organise all your stuff into an easy to read portfolio.

take 6 copies of everything, high light inportant parts, and add notes to your own copy of what to make special mention of, take 1 for your support person, 1 for the dealer and his support person, 1 for the judicator, 1 for the assesor and 1 for the notes taking person.

take sevral photos, and again 6 copies.

and dont forget the bribe xD
