a lot of that corrosion looks like intergranular-type, and tracking type, having tracked underneath the clear lacquer paint. no amount of washing or waxing will stop that. intergranular is caused by poor material manufacturing.

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Woe to You Oh Earth and Sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding
Reckon the number of the beast

FOR SALE: '88 Yamaha FZX 750, low k's and decent condition. Looking for around 4.5K. Drop us a pm, view it any time. Oh, and trades considered for cruisers or naked sporties.
Well, maybe I've gone completely bonkers, but it doesn't look all that bad to me.
The majority of it is corrosion on the aluminium. My (admittedly much older than 11 months) SR250 had tons of that. I've seen GN's with rust weeping out of the frame, chrome peeling off etc. etc. I've seen Hyosung's a year or so old in worse condition too.
Maybe I have gone completely bonkers. Maybe my SR was a lemon and I never realised it. Heh.

I don't care if it's a 125 cheap as chips roadster or a 1300 supersports, it was someones pride and joy and it shouldn't be in that state after 11 months, bloody rip off.
Some kid coulda saved up for a couple o years to buy that as his first bike, a rolling rust bucket, I'd be well chuffed with that and the apparent lack of response from Mr Suzuki.
Is this common for Chinese bikes ?
Oh bugger
Correct.
Inadequate cleaning shouldn't produce results like that, unless there's been some sort of corrosive contaminant involved it can not be said to be a product that's "fit for purpose".
It's a manufacturing quality issue and if one of my nippers had had this experience I'd be on the warpath.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
Seems that trademe have pulled the listing, but I can tell you its not only GN's that rust up. My GSXR600 K4, which I bought new, started rusting in the fuel tank at 1200km. And no, it wasn't stored outside or left with an empty tank. Suzuki didn't want to know nor did the dealer. This was my second GSXR and both of them had build quality issues.
Dont even get me started on the paint, that was another issue I had with the K4, Interestingly the warranty only covered paint for a very short time. Have seen loads of the silver GSXR1000's where the paint has peeled off from the lower front fairings too. Suzuki still have a long way to when it comes to building bikes that will last! To be honest I think they're shit and will never buy another one.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Sorry to say it but this is one of the reasons I will never buy another Jap bike.
Admittedly, the quality is much better than it used to be (compare Jap to Chinese now and it's like the BMW to Jap 20 years ago IMHO)
My old Beemer has no rust and its 15 years old and 122,000km. I do nothing special except give her a wash and the odd wax (alright stopit)
Aluminum tank means no rust in there and all the bolts are plated. Quality throughout.
I guess that's why they cost an arm and a leg when new and why I couldn't afford one he he.
Next event...
Aussie - Melbourne - Perth - Darwin - Alice - Melbourne... April-May 2011
Good greif... Just clean it! The chrome just looks like its never been cleaned! Check out the chain guard area it tells it all. It looks like surface DIRT over it that has dirtied the chrome so what exactly do you expect the alloy to do? You get what you pay for, pure and simple.
