Woke up early yesterday morning, so decided to get up and take the Virago for a battery charging run.

So there I am, at 7-ish, happy burbling along on a road I know (very) well, when some little plonker on L plates and I'm assuming a CBR125R come flying up behind me, being a real nuisance on my tail. I assume he'd looked and thought "cruiser, they don't go very fast".

Not wanting the little idiot sitting on my tail, I simply opened the throttle.... and left him standing!

Got off tail, settled back into leisurely cruise... and there he was, flat on tank trying to catch up. So I just waited until he closed in and opened the throttle again, just to show it wasn't a case of catching him by surprise.

Message seemed to be received as he left me alone after that.

Well, if you ever find that the GSX1400 is a bit slow on the up-take there's a guy here in Chch who's turboed (discreetly btw) his - makes 210 hps at the wheel. I'm sure he'd be happy to share his experiences if you're interested.

Well blow me if he didn't open her up and lose his wallet altogether, so I stoped and picked it up.By the time I'd scooped the contents of the wallet up he was well ahead so I had to lie on the tank to catch him, as soon as I got close he pissed off again. (A wallet could never fall out of my bike trousers - I've got those Hood trousers with the inch-wide velcro strip on the pocket. I have to fight to get the pocket open, let alone lose anything!)

As a newb, it was a delight to discover someone to ride with - all of them were pleased to see me join up with them, or acted so anyway. I'm glad you didn't have the opportunity to be rude to him face to face. Chances are he has no idea you were so disgusted with his presence - fortunate for him I'd say.

Big difference between someone joining you for a ride and f*cking about and climbing all over my tail. If he'd wanted to join me for a ride, why not pull alongside, give me a nod or something? Instead, he was right up my tailpipe, being a nuisance. So I used all of the mighty 40bhp of the Virago and got away from him!

I just got out of the way - someone else might have taken him to the cleaners!
