As for the topic in question. I'm of two minds. Yes it would be nice to see some more quality KBers.

Some would say that it's enivitable(SP?) anyway, active promotion or not. I hope not though, as I really like it here.

    In conclusion, meh, either way.
fair call, - i suspect that the possibility of putting faces to names locally and the lack of 'international anonymity' might make it less susceptible to corruption?

Me too, afterall, he's the one that determines how this site is run and gives it the flavour it has and we all enjoy so much, so I change my stance on this one too. Good point hoon btw.

I don't see why we should keep others from enjoying the advantages of being part of the KB site just because we want to keep it to ourselves.
I'll help too, if someone from the mid-life-crisis brigade is needed.

Great - say 300 words to start and i'll do a screen grab of the start page to illustrate.

Do something along the lines of 'KIWI BIKERS GET CONNECTED' - (I'm not the Ed and I can't guarantee it will run - but there is a VERY good chance.) and an outline of the benefits of subscribing. Perhaps a testimonial or two - I like Kiwi Biker because.....

Just pm`d this to danger_dave ,didnt realise he was looking for an article so this was intended for the letters page.He reckons it`s o.k. and asked me to put it up,anyone got any comments/major objections? Up to him whether he uses it or not of course but the editor may well print a letter a lot quicker than an article.

Readers who have internet access might like to check out www.kiwibiker.co.nz , which could loosely be described as an internet bike club. There`s news, games, rideouts and a lively forum with a wide variety of people to exchange views with. They`re a friendly, knowledgeable, bunch and if you need help, advice or information there`s usually someone that can sort you out or point you in the right direction. There`s input from both sexes, all ages and a sprinkling of overseas riders. Any rider of any kind of bike is welcome from newcomers to veterans, trail bikes to GSXRs, take a look and hopefully you`ll feel like joining in, if do you`ll be made very welcome.

I've seriously watched a couple of really good forums (one bike related, one not) rapidly go down the tubes after this type of promotion effort. In one case the forum closed and the other created an off-shoot that is increasingly becoming the preferred site. Both had/have bigger memberships than KB.

Change is inevitable, I'm not complaining about it. I will however, continue to provide peevish warnings about leaping headlong into things when no leap was necessary in the first place.

I'm not suggesting that we need to be exclusive either, but the last couple of "debaters" that have belted in here, have made me wonder whether I should just go riding and not bother looking for riding mates. I'm happy either way quite frankly, but I've met too many interesting pleasant people on here to let it change without a fight. More isn't always better.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I want to avoid referring to KB as a club. It's not a "members only" place, it's a "everyone can join in" place. I've heard a few stories about peoples bad experiences with clubs or how some clubs can get rather exclusive.

I see KB more as a tool for any bike club, bike shop and just your individual biker to use.

FWIW you may want to let this poll run for a bit before you send it.
