    Hanmer snow ride

Took the Aprilia up to Hanmer yesterday and had a gentle ride over Jacks to check out the snow situation. Quite a bit there but not quite as much as last years ride but i'm sure more will come. So wadda you guys recon to another ride up there around the back end of July.

This weekend is out for me and the next is looked dodgy as my son is moving house then and i'm sure i'll get a call up. 19th or 26th weekends are all good. I am going to take the WR on the trailer so i could get one more bike on, share fuel costs and take some extra gear type of thing.

I'll either take the CRF or KLX.
Will wait and see who else does what before deciding on vanning up or taking up a spot on your trailer.
    Cheers

Yes, have had most my bikes (CBR1000 included) through various sealed road passes in snowy conditions, Lewis, Arthurs, roads to the Brass monkey all included but trust me that's a bit different to what we have in mind. Last time the Hanmer run was more compacted ice than snow over a rather rutted up Jollies Pass to start with.
If in doubt you can find a couple of our older snow adventures on my youtube channel.

There is some snow in the Adventure turned trail video as well but it wasn't all about snow on that one.

Would a motard be able to hack it? With enduro tyres?

Have been considering the viability of a motard, hence the question.

Remember fullers - the ultimate point of this ride is to try and get to the top of island saddle. Probably not possibly unless you all have TF125's

Good luck I wont be joining you this year.

What about a Honda MT5? Looks like the smaller bike is the way to go, lol...

Yip, don't think a motard will do too well...

LOL - possibly? The TF125 worked cause it has really really short first gear, a low seat height are really mallow power.

No a motard would probably not be that good. Height seat height and long first gear make for lots of hard work.

    Thanks Cooneyr.

I think I'll find some snow and have a go. Shouldn't be too difficult considering the amount we've had all around the country...

The fat tyres won't help either
