    Fairisle? Raglan sleeves? Fisherman's Rib?
What do you suggest K - I do so value your advice
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Interestingly enough though, there are some sellers that despite getting an off Trade me offer of more than they actually want, leave the auction to run its course, as that is the honest way to deal.

Personally I think this young fella should stand by his bid and buy the thing, if he cant then he needs to contact the owner to attempt to wiggle his way out.

There is no room for grey in this situation no matter who you are, buyer or seller. You enter into a contract, you fulfill it. Unless of course I am one of the only honest people left out here IRL!

You are not seriously implying it is ok to renege on a binding contract, albeit one on the interweeby thingy, are you?

the internet has become such a normal part of everyday society one would think that its natural progression would be people treating internet deals the same as real life deals.

Maybe it still has time to go but I often find myself wondering where all the credibility has gone these days.

I cant believe that kamper is so surprised he has such a negative response from this thread.

I say you already brought it. If you want quit it now give the guy his money and list it on trademe. Trademe is bad enough without people avocating deals turning to shit.
    I do agree.

I agree mate! It appalls me that people are not good to their word these days, no matter where. I am the same on here as in the REAL WORLD! Nothing changes. I detest people that think it is ok, or even condone what has happened here. The OP here has laid himself open to the forum critique, he is getting it!

Why not just communicate with the seller? Explain what happened, just as you did in your opening post, and ask for leniency? You might be surprised ......? He might even be happier to re-list it than complete the deal.

You and The Stranger seem intent on putting words in my mouth.

There's not much difference between reneging on a Trademe auction and asking a bike shop to order in a part for you and then never bothering to go in to collect and pay for it. (I wonder how many of us can honestly say they've never done that?)

You bid on it, you bought it mate. Your best bet is to be honest with the bloke and hope that he decides to give you a break and let you off. If not, hard luck. Don't place a bid if you dont want to own it. If he lets you off, I would still say you should repay him the listing fee or messing him around.

No words in your mouth mate it is what you dont say that we are bringing to notice, and querying.

"Once the reserve has been met you have accepted "an offer"".

Yes that is true, as is the other side of the coin... You make the offer that is accepted the deal is done!

"Plenty of sellers do the dirty by pulling the auction before it finishes - even if the reserve is met".

And this make reneging on your accepted offer acceptable how?

Both actions are completely unacceptable to my mind.
