yeah my old man was a stickler for doing what you said you were going to, also on returning borrowed things in a better condition than you got them in, and putting tools and crap away back where you got them from when you have finished ( well learned by me when they would get chucked full bore at me if I forgot and left it out). I always put my stuff back after cleaning and CRCing it these days

OMG! You learned values/morals and consequences.

Give your folks a big hug from me next time you see them.

Hugs can be figurative too buddy...LOL

No sob story this one, this is about bidding on an auction, just to see where reserve was, a few drinks had been had by the bidder. The bid met reserve and the bidder was sucessful in purchasing the bike by auction on Trade Me.

    He now says Uh Oh!

His forum peers have had their say on how they feel about his post.

There as usual is a bit of debate on the morals of this transaction by other members...LOL

Tis a very slim chance he will post on here what happened with the auction chick ! Don't bag him for being ignorant and not replying to your post !
I still stand by what i said that ppl should not condemn others untill all the facts are clear !
This might be a clue ! But then only the ppl who ride with HK will prolly ever know for sure lol
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    I can say that.
But (however) I've ordered bike parts, paid a deposit, and after months found out that the shop forgot to place the order. To their credit, they apologised profusely, and gave me a refund.
I've never reneged on an auction either. Although my very first auction freaked me out (thought I'd listed way too low) and I asked the workmate whose brother was listing it for me (I didn't have an account) to fix it.
It just boosted the price a few shekels (buyer still got a good deal - a leather jacket for less than $100), whereas my intention was that my workmate would "buy" it, then I'd pull the auction. Not something I'm proud of, but also not something I'd ever repeat.
On the flip side of the coin, I've been prepared to let someone off the hook when they bought some skis from me really cheap and the courier fee was more than the purchase price. (They went through with it, and still got a good total price).

I guess it's all about whether or not you have a conscience and principles you adhere to, and whether you can live with your actions. The thing is though, that the more you do dodgy things and justify them to yourself, the more it 'sears your conscience' and the easier it becomes to go further down that morally slippery slope. I'd have to admit that I do that with the way I drive/ride on the roads. It's a little different, in that safety is still paramount (which after all is what the road rules are there for), so there are boundaries I won't cross, like passing a stationary schoolbus at more than 30km/h, or speeding past a school, or doing ridiculous speeds on public roads, or driving through red lights or stop signs.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

it is the same as me saying I am buying a honda. Joking about it is fine, but seriously considering it and asking for opinion on it is a different matter entirely...................
