Thumbs up KTM 525 going road legal

Just bought a KTM 525 and im in the middel of getting it road legal.
It came with a full road kit so didnt have to buy any lights
Have already had the brake compliance and passed no problems.
Fitted new wheel bearings and road legal nobley tyres today
And tomrow its of for vinning and rego so fingers crosed it goes smoothly

Next on the list will be a long range fuel tank

Just want to get out there and get into it. Cant wait for the brass monkey
Id forgotten how much hard work trail riding was but i love it. Havnt done it for 4 years

My 525 was a barrell of laughs on the road. I had the 13l tank on it. But now it is solely back in trail mode since getting the 640 for adv duties.

So long as you have proof of original sale in NZ (dealer history, you may need to contact original dealer), getting it vinned should be fine.
I got my '06 EXC rego'd for the first time last year, all they did was reactivate the VIN number (stamped on steering head tube) which had lapsed, and charged me the sum of $520 incl first 6 months rego and WOF. Vin numbers will lapse if not road rego'd within 2 years of being issued from new.

    Enjoy the ride!

Yea well have hit a wee snag but should be sorted 2mrw. I have all the info but vinz dont know if the bike was sold new in nz or not. The bike was sold to the fella i got it from at Mciver & veitch in 2007 and they traded it in from someone in invercargill. My mate Keith at Mciver & veitch is sorting it for me just waiting to hear back from KTM NZ and then we should be all go

My 525 was sold new from McIver & Veitch in Dunners as well. I gave them the original buyer's name and Chassis details, and they sent me a lovely fax in return with proof of sale in NZ. Hope all goes well.

problem is Mciver & Veitch didnt sell the bike new they traded it in. Its all got verry messy to much to type. Lucky i know Viech's well as they have tracked down the guy that bought it new in Invercargill from some bike shop thats now changed names. So hopefully the have the info i need. Allso the fella that bought it new says he thinks he might still have the paper work. IVE GOT A HEAD ACHE

Im having huge problems trying to sort this bloody bike. Its been at vinz since wensday and im no futher ahead. All i need is a letter from ktm nz to say the bike was sold new in nz. But NO they say it was sold new in Aussie but the bike was sold brand new in invercargill. Now KTM are saying there are two bikes with the same chassis numbers.

I believe so not sure where you live and only some LVV inspectors can do motorbikes but I am sure they will point you in the right direction. Have a look here.
http://www.lvvta.org.nz/about.html I believe they will call it a replica.
