    i stripped back a gb500 petroltank and had it powder coated clear...perfect!

    I know you can use keyfos(sp) to protect bare steel.
    I used it on my old HZ ute when i was doing it up.
    but can't remember how long(if at all )it would last in the weather.
    It is good shit for when you've stripped a complete car down to bare steel.

    Altex have a product called RIPO, rust inhibiting penetrating oil.
    I've used it quite a bit industrially and it's great stuff, but you will need to seal it with a clear coat, as it stays tacky.

    If you are game enough try "blueing" the metal. Try it on a piece of scrap to see if you like the look, I'm not sure how well it will last though.
    Lead, follow or get the f*%! outa the way.
