What the hell is this for?

Me and a few friends were standing around our bikes this morning and noticed all our bikes have this flat indented spot on our tanks. We couldnt really figure out what it was for. Anyone know??? I had a few ideas but none really made much sense.

Tauragnga Latte holder - they don't have 'em in other towns
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

McDonald has paid many $$'s to have all bikes fitted with that indent made to fit their coffe mugs. By their calculations, if they can get bikers to come through the drivetru they will earn 0.89% more in gross income a year.

(Think about it, no more bikers coming in, taking space and spending ages taking their gear off and putting it on. And only for a coffee.)

May the bridges I burn light the way.

You might find its the exact size of the mounting base for motorcycle mounted miniaturised surface to air missiles. Perfect for those risky overtaking procedures.
