Y 'know , I'm sitting here think how my granny would react to a "boobs on Bikes Parade". I knew her pretty well (and my great grandmother , and great-great-grandmother , not so well). She was born and raised when Queen Victoria sat firmly on the Imperial throne (they all were actually) and was pretty representative of the era.

I don't think she'd have been wanting the council to ban it. She had very firm notions of the role of government , local or national, and I think she would have reckoned that such a matter was none of their business. But-- if she'd been there when they rode down the road, I'm very sure she would have upped with her umbrella and whaled the daylights out of all the girls, for being shameless brazen hussies (she was a tiny thing , 4'10", but cross her at your peril. That umbrella was a deadly thing, backed up with a 12 inch hatpin for more serious problems. She used the latter, too, through a mans eyeball. Don't cross old ladies). And expected all the other ladies (and I used that term very specifically, as she would have) around to back her up.

Which really is what it comes down to in my opinion. Morality is no business of politicians. It's a matter for the people involved- participants or spectators. And the objectors seem to be objecting more for political than ethical reasons . I'd be quite happy to see Ms Casey getting stuck into Mr Crow with an umbrella.Cheer her on and all. I'm less happy with her dictating what I can look at because she finds it offensive (or , even worse, she doesn't find it offensive, but claims that some, unknown and unidentified, person 'might')

......which all goes to prove that Mr.Crow sure knows how to get free publicity.

and the only ones making a TIT of themselves are the politicians and councillors who probably secretly want to have a look too.personally i could care less about a bunch of silicon enhanced females on Harleys. Now,if they were all on RGB500s.........

Dom Post this morning had an article telling us that Lisa Lewis had written a letter of support for Crow to John Banks.

She's from Hamilton like Quasi so I guess that would really rate in Banksies eyes eh

Bollocks, what about Censorship? I expect the government through its agencies to have structures in place to prevent my children going to see a movie which would be inappropriate such as a porno, and boys being boys will go to see whatever they can get away with, luckily I as a parent can rely on the fact that when I drop them of to see pirates of the caribean rated M they will because structures and censorship laws stops them from seeing SAWIII rated R18, censorship has a place in this situation.
I also expect the local government to have laws in place to safe guard my family from seeing naked men running around Hamilton lake, I also expect the same laws to "safeguard" the family from seeing naked woman on bikes promoting a porno show in Queen st, and I see zero reason for this to go ahead particulary in the middle of the day.
Keep in mind the whole damn contraversy is about promoting a porno expo which is luckily R18...........why isnt this rating carried onto public streets?
Ive run out of fucks to give

    Gosh

New Zealand really does amaze me. On one hand I must say in general you guys come across quite conservative and on the other hand I read this thread. As someone who comes from a country that still DOES NOT legalise prostiution say I say good on ya. If only our government had the balls to make such a sane decision.

Not knowing much about Mr Crow and his enterprises it is very difficult to comment on his business enterprises, however his marketing strategy is genius TNA as it is over here. I guess I am in two minds about this procession, one the one side I am all for freedom of speech, expression etc and a woman's right to do whatever she wants with her body but on the other hand I am a little freaked out by the notion of a parade that promotes women as porn objects especially to children. And why only women why not promote male porn stars at the same time just to demonstrate equality at its best!

I do not have a problem with boobs in public and think that children seeing them will hopefully help them not to have issues relating to the human body. But I would hope that there is an array of boobs so that both boys and girls are not only shown fake plastic boobs as if this is what is the norm and should be aspired to.

I have voted to keep the parade so that if in the future such a parade for a worth cause is requested it is not going to be turned down due to past presidence..
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
    Wish you were here. QWQ

In the past from the pics I've seen the guys have been there baring their chests too and Ron Jeremy appeared but he kept his clothes on.

Never been at all keen on that. Y' start out censoring boobs, it's not a long step to censoring opinions. If Ms Casey is entitled to tell us what we may be permitted to look at, then it's won't be long before she demands the right to tell us what we can say, and think as well. In fact, censorship of politically incorrect thinking usually precedes censorship of sexual content. Look at KB!

As for children, if they are old enough to be free of parental vigilence they are old enough to cope with the facts of life.

possibly because 99.9% of the riders are guys and would feel "queer"about having a well hung pr0n star.... uh......."hard"..up against his back.
