    R6 Scam

    Hi guys,
Just thought id put in my 2 cents on this R6 scam. the bike can be viewed at http://www.motorcycletrader.co.nz/Vi...0&N=4294966007
I can pretty much 100% guarantee this is a scam so if youre thinking about getting it think twice. This is a good example of a classic Western Union scam.
    1) the price is wack
    2) He tries to not reveal the plates but on one of the pictures you can see the plate number imprinted looking at the back of the plate, and there are 6 numbers indicating the bike isnt even in New Zealand even though he stated it as being registered here.
    3) Hes way too keen to start the transaction
    4) the email i received from the guy is pretty much the exact same template used here: http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.js...82658&start=40 reply number 44.
    5) The email claiming to be from squaretrade isnt even from squaretrade, I forwarded the email to spoof@squaretrade.com who then verified this.
    6) Assuming the bike isnt in New Zealand it costs 300 bucks to ship it here from wherever it supposedly is located and it takes an amazing 3 days to get here....that must be the fastest container ship in the world...
    7) you can kinda see the dude in the reflection of his tacho in one of the pics and he looks like an idiot
    8) the english used in his emails varies from formal to gangstarr spelling
    9) doesnt appear to be any evidence of a WoF sticker
    10) would never give me the plates after my repeated requests as I wanted to run them through VIR
    11) I asked to drive down from aucks to view it but he said it wasnt possible because the bike was locked up with the shipping company....
    12) Its not listed on trademe
    13) Western Union...
    14) did i mention the price is wack?

Anyways just be aware... anything in life that seems too good to be true ALWAYS is

Also refers to 'tires' (instead of tyres) and a 'fender'. Sounds US based to me.

Interesting that there is a guy in Baltimore called Nicholas Walters who had an R6 for sale on the R6 forum as saefirebird

see this post... http://www.r6-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50031 There are some pics there too, although its blinged out version.

The internet is a wonderful place...

Bahaha. This just makes me think of my friend who's desperately attempting to sell his bike. Now I KNOW that ain't a scam, and he's selling his for $7,100, though his bike has been used far more.

(... if anyone's interested, there's an ad for it that's up in the Online Trading forum that I've put up for him to help him sell it, by the way...)

But thanks for the warning mate.
Who, me? I just wander from thread to thread.

Wow.......spooky, I asked a question on a TM auction today about a BMW bike and got this reply:
    No the price it`s correct.
Since the bike is NZ registered you will not have to pay any custom taxes and also won't have any problems registering it under your name. The bike is in an absolutely perfect condition both mechanically and cosmetically. No damages, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects. I`m the only owner of the bike and i selling it because i`ve bought another bike.....
I recently moved in australia and the car is here with me
if you're interested, I'll find a solution to bring the car in NZ this week
    thanks!
Thank you kindly for the time spent and hope to hear from you.

Then while reading this post an email from TM came in........
Tony,Thanks for contacting us.We have concerns about listing BMW R1100S 2005 - 168786049, which you participated in or viewed recently. We have reason to believe that this account has been compromised by an overseas scammer and this auction is not genuine. We have suspended this membership until we have resolved this with the actual account holder.

Heres the exact email template message he sent me:

    Hello,

Sorry for the late answer. First of all my name is Nicholas Walters and i'm the owner of the 2006 Yamaha YZF-R R6 that you have asked about on MotorcycleTrader. The price for it is 7000 NZD. The bike is in perfect condition and has no mechanical problems. No scratches or dents, no accidents. All services have been made at a Yamaha service in time. The bike was mostly garage kept. It is a NZ model and can be registered to your name without problems.
Regarding the payment I am aware of the buyer's protection and specially I will use an SquareTrade Third Party with MotorcycleTrader which will hold the payment until the buyer will receive the product.
I will wait for your email to let me know if you are interested in knowing more details about the purchase and please reply asap and let me know your full name and where are you located(your full shipping address) to calculate shipping cost.

    Thanks,

    Nicholas

If you EVER get an email like this you are being scammed.
I asked him for his plates a total of 6 times in 6 different emails and he always sidestepped the question LOL. I fkn hate scammers!!!

Please be aware guys, dont let your wants overcome your common sense.

Haha wow i was just going to start a thread about this very topic! Just recieved a second email, however it stank from the moment i opened it. Did a bit of searching and what do you know its a scam.

Apparently similar types of auctions, eg vastly under priced items are sucking people in on ebay a lot.

Beware of something that is to good to be true!
