    ..Hi folks.
Just an update to give you some more details.

Assembly point on Sat morning will outside the front gate of the Top 10 Holiday Park in Windsor Ave at around 7.30 am.

I will lead us away at 8 am and will be wearing the fluoro yellow Hi-Viz vest.

(XR) Johnny, DRZ 250, will be riding as sweep and will have a red/orange vest.

Murray will take care of the ladies.

There will be 45 mins of Tarmac before we hit the gravel. First stop, after approx 2 hours, will be at Porangahau for those wanting petrol.

We'll then head for Dannevirke arriving in approx another 2 hours.
This will be a lunch and gas stop for 30 mins.

After lunch we meet up at the BP at the southern end of the town's main street.

From there we head S/E and 2-3 hours later end up at Pongaroa where petrol will be available. There is also a shop, but if you must eat, don't order coffees or take-aways ! ...I did on our scoping ride, and held up the boys for 40 MINS !!!

From there we meander northwards and 2-3 hours later end up back in Hastings.
    (petrol at Waipukurau)

You can then take a well deserved rest and recreation break !

    Tony

Yeah, fooken shopping in Palmy. Busy earning browny points for next weekend.

Can't wait. Might crank the yellow beast up tomorrow for a quick look around the Porangahau section.

    Follow the leader.

For those who are unfamiliar, we will be using the "cornerman" system for navigation on the ride. This is a very straightforward and effective way of following the route without having to refer to a map or notes along the way.

As we come up to an intersection, for example, the ride leader will ask the rider who is next behind him, to stop at that place and let the other riders following know which way they should head.
This Cornerman waits there until the sweep catches up.
He can then head off at his own pace to rejoin the group.

    Hey Bart.

How has the rain been down your way lately ?
I was just thinking of your gnarly little offroad section we scoped.
On the day it might be a good idea if you and one other, rode down Manuhara Rd and across to Waihi Valley Rd where we would meet up with you. You could then let us know the condition of the track you had just ridden, and we could make a call on the suitability of that section for the day.

Waihi Falls may eventuate only if we have time, as I'm sure that detour would add 45 minutes or so.

You would have to let me know what flavours you require, or do you just want BYO? Please post your preferences.
Would be handy if the beer was waiting as after a long (please, please, please) day last thing I wanna do is have to go to the wholesalers. I'm not fussy(prefer glass tho) but the $1 beers sound good

Any plans for the Friday night?
    Going away, busy?

Friday night I'll pop down to top10 and catch up.
Anybody else who is staying in the area is encouraged to come along too.

Vidals winery/bar is walking distance should you need a restaurant meal, or a hangover for the long day ahead !
Mxnut and Suzi will have been in town since Thurs pm, so they should be well sorted !

I'll be buying some beers then...

Add one more. Hugh will also tag along on his DR650. (Actually, I think he'll be closer to the front).

He chucks rocks on that thing. I've learnt the hard way not to follow too close. $400 for a bloody headlight. I thought I wouldn't risk it again so I made a headlight protector today. If it works, I might post up the details of how I made it from a $3 basket from the Warehouse. Almost looks like a bought one.

How'd the ride go today Tony.
