First ride on the road.

Picked up a helmet this morning while i was out, decided that as the girlfriend was recovering from a huge night, her last day at work yesterday, i would take the GSX250 out around the block for the first time. Really quiet back streets, so almost no traffic so will be my main place to get used to it for a bit.

Just did a quick couple of time around the block as it isnt registered or wof yet to make sure everything seems good after the new forks and the like...
A little heavy but really easy to ride.. seems to be going well other than a little slow but that is the GSX250 way i understand. I was well impressed with it really, and that i managed to fix it all up and ready for its cert this week, after only having it about 10 days... all i hope is that it will pass the cert and not be bent and need to be beaten straight.

Next time i will do it in the reverse order, get the bike, get it checked then buy the bits to repair it... just in case...

so far it has been a very rewarding proccess and i have learnt a fair bit, like wind sucks on a bike... and that i am far to tense when riding it... keep grinding my teeth...

Practice practice practice sounds boring but im right , plenty of braking changing up and down getting use to the bike ... and 1 day what do ya know

Well as it was accident damaged and was written off had to have the frame measured, and it needs a little bit of streching to get it back into shape.
So wont be playing for abit... it is very slightly twisted too, by about 2 degrees, so once i get it perfect again it should go back together much nicer..
I should start to get onto it this week so i can get it finished sooner... I think that in the end it may have been only a little more expensive to buy a working bike... but like I said to my girlfriend "Wheres the fun in that"
Its all about learning things and learning how to fix things.. lots of fun... I just wish my garage was less messy, warmer and that I kept the beer fridge better stocked...

I'm in the same shoes as you mate.

It's a great time to take the bike apart and clean everything up, bit of the old polishing doesn't hurt also. With a running bike you'd just want to ride it, and never want to keep it off the road for a few weeks to make it look beautiful!

It has a 2 degree twist and is short by about 95mm, so not too bad or so I am told, steel frame so should just pull back into shape.

It was blue but is now half grey...
