Triumph unveils its new Thunderbird twin

It won't be in NZ for a good while yet but talking to my sales rep who attended the Triumph word dealer conference in Birmingham England says the they unveiled the now 1600cc parallel twin water cooled, fuel injected belt driven Triumph Thunderbird cruiser. He also told me it puts out 119hp at the back wheel at 7500rpm that's a shit load of hp for a twin. I guess it has a very long stroke to be able to produce those ponies. It looks not to bad either. But firmly with the USA sales market in mind and selling there for around $14K USA dollars. It sure is kick arse material for that price in the cruiser market over there. But Triumph want to get it dead right before the world launch. So there is more testing going on to do just that, I was told.
He also said it would probably retail in NZ for maybe $21.000 plus ORC. A picture for your perusal is below.
    cheers

Ferris he did give me the torque figures, but I can't remember them to be honest but I recall they were very impressive. Would the HP be more or less the same as the stock V-Rod.

119hp at the rear wheel would be plenty more than a stock V-Rod I'd imagine.

I hope you are close on those two numbers.
119hp at the crank is more than I would have expected. If it's above 100hp I will be seriously interested.

He told him wrong. It ain't.

It will be truck-like-bulletproof and has slightly higher numbers than the harleys it is trying to take sales off.

It's still at least 12months away too.

Looks like a bike I could easily like - and given the money I would probably have one.
