Here's a thought. You didn't buy the bike from a Suzuki shop in NZ, or the headlight would be correct, so neither Suzuki NZ or your local dealer has made any profit from you shortcutting the 'normal' import/retail transaction, and now you want them to trip over themselves to fix your problem. Get a grip - and spend some of the money you (possibly) saved by buying a new and proper unit.

Where's the law that says you have to buy a suzuki bike from a suzuki dealer? Where in the OP does he say he wants Suzuki to fix his problem?
Good on him for posting on here rather than forking out 350 when he can get something for a tenth of that price!

There are road-legal options in after-market enduro headlights, shop around.

The bike was brought brand new from the local suzuki dealer three and a half years ago.This is just the first time i have tried to register it and now the dealer has changed franchises. And i have brought all my 5 of my Suzuki`s brand new from dealers.

Any aftermarket headlights will be OK (from a legal perspective, not necessarily from a fitting or performance point of view), as long as they have the appropriate "E" markings.

I can almost guarantee that Repco, Partmaster, or Supercheap would have something that would fit - for about $30.

+1 Had the same problem with triumph headlight lens $ 280, got a hella lens for $80 (though being round was an easy find) check out any hella dealers ! Bound to be an after market lens out there somewhere !

Try going back to Suzuki NZ, they shouldn't be selling a warrantable bike that is never going to obtain one.

This has cropped up with the later GN250s (I think the early ones had old-style symmetrical headlights, so no problem), and Suzuki told the poor bastards to go get stuffed.

I'll join with the rest in saying get a grip yourself - $350 for a common farmbike headlight lens is just plain stupid, what it's being fitted to is irrelevant. An entire headlight for my KTM, including the 2 bulbs, is $120.

I can almost guarantee that Repco, Partmaster, or Supercheap would have something that would fit - for about $30.

I had a look around for a rectangular unit to fit the KTM but the above parts places didn't have anything small enough that would take an H4 bulb, not in the cheap common sizes anyway.

+1 on that - under the consumers guarantee act an item has to be fit for purpose. If they are selling a bike that cannot be warranted then you have the right to chase them.

If the bike was not imported by them (meaning the defuncked dealer did it) then you are probably out of luck.

Warrant is no problem - VIN'ing however is a bugger.
