Red face Help! I need help with my suzuki gsxr 250r

I bought my first 250 bike last week suzuki gsxr 250r 1989. First few day it starts with a bit of difficulty, i thought it's due to low fuel so i top it up with 98.
Yesterday it starts up alright with a bit of throttle and today i went to start it it just would'nt start, luckey my friendly neighbor heard my bike screaming in pain so he came and help.
We manage to get it started again but it's not revving up and it feels like it's missing a bit then i saw the spark from the spark plug through the fairing.
i don't know anything about bikes.
i dont know how to get to the spark plugs.
could someone please give me any advice on what to do next or help me with my bike or even just point me to a good mechanic in my area (but i already spent most of my money on buying the bike) i live in akl new market. thx.

    please help me !!!!!!!!!

    Hi ya.
Its a case of taking the tank of to get to the spark plugs.
Are you savvy with the throttle and choke mechanism?
If you dont have it on when starting it can be difficult untill warmed up and it will choke the bike if left on when riding.
Always ready to lend a hand if needed.

Yea I cant quite recall how the tank is held on but it should just be a couple of bolts at the front and back of the tank. Make sure you turn off the fuel tap and have a rag handy when you disconnect the fuel line(carefully). Twist the fuel line first to break the seal before pulling it off.

Sounds like you just need to remove the spark plug caps and make sure the cap to lead connection is ok then clean the spark plug and put back on.
Might as well check and clean or replace plugs while ya at it tho.

"Could see spark from spark plug through the fairings..."
Sounds to me like one (or more) of the HT leads is off. Should not be able to see sparks in there at all.
If someone can't take a look for this guy, then G...take your bike to the shop.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Are you at Auckland Uni by any chance? We may be having a fix-it day this Saturday about 2mins from New Market. So could perhaps send a rescue team over to yours.

Take it to Raginrob...he might let you watch, so then you will know for next time. It's an easy task, but real long-winded to describe how on here.

hi everyone latest up date on da problem with my bike.
i manage to remove da fuel tank (once again i pop da fuel line bu not much dripping might be da reserve tank pipe).
i pull da lead lightly and two of them came right off with da head still attached to da spark plug...therefore i guess da problem is da lead
but...if i change da lead and maybe clean or change da spark plug will it fix da starting problem?
or is there something else i need to look at while im there?
where should i get da lead? repco?
does anyone know what sort of lead i ahould get for my bike?
thanks if anyone have da ans to my question.
