How often do you get stopped by police?

Hi,

My mate drives round on a SV650 on his learners and hes done that for at least 5 months now- he hasn't been stopped and fined.

Thing is, ive got a TZR250 and i have been stopped twice and im on my learners too.

Am i just really unlucky? Or are bikes with fairings stopped more frequently?

How often do you get stopped (with sensible legal driving) ?

I only get pulled over when I do something silly in front of them (and it was silly enough for them to worry about). Once in about the last 5 years. Twice in the last 26 years. Nanas rule!

Have never been stopped whilst riding ay. What have they stopped you for?

I used to ride a M50 (800) with a "L" plate and never got pulled over - even when the copper was on a bike behind me on the m/way.

Probably more down to how one rides.

last time I was stopped was 1995, for doing 76 in a 50 zone

the cop proceeded to tell me I was "going like a bat out of hell" followed closely by "just try to keep it under 70"

cuz, y'know, there's a big difference between 76 and 69

I only got stopped once at a "mass random check" for WOF and rego on our way to the Cold Kiwi in Ngaruawahia.

I ride a VTR 250 that looks like a bigger bike to the uneducated eye, and am on my learners still

I have been stopped for a variety of reasons, some reasonable, some less so.

There have been the obvious mass wof and rego checks, mass breath checks , a check to see if I was carrying an escaped prisoner. One check I can recall was not accompanied by any explanation but he seemed to loose interest when he saw the colour of my hair.

I think the most memorable was the occasion where I was stopped in town and asked to remove my helmet, then the silk balaclava, then got "Sorry you aren't who I thought you were." To my knowledge I was the only persion riding a B50SS in town around then so God knows who I was supposed to be.

By the way people, the correct spelling of "ay" or whatever is "eh".
It is only two letters afterall and shouldn't provide an insurmountable challenge. No offence intended :-)

I seem to get stopped on my car like clockwork for random checks.

But in the 2+ years I've had a bike, I've never been pulled over for anything... Strange.....

Mind you my car does have a broken window and dents on every side of the car.

oh... legal riding... ummm... don't think ever? Been stopped 4-5 times I think in 3.5 years, ticket every time. Get waved through every checkpoint, no checking, I normally slow down, lift visor etc, so I guess they expect I'm fine, and can't be bothered.

The BDOTGNZA are ashamed to read this. According to the concise english dictionary, the correct spelling of "ay" is "ay", and the correct spelling of "eh" is "eh". Two totally different words with different meanings.

"ay" is an affirmation, and "eh" is a question.

Been stopped out West, at a random checkpoint that was set up outside a school.
Quite sneakily around the corner so that you had to commit to the corner before you saw the checkpoint (surprise, surprise). Had to stand the bike upright and come to a swift halt!

Then the silly question time...
"Have you got a licence"
"Yup!"
"Can I see it?"
"It's in my backpack"
"Oh, OK. Is it a full licence?"
"Yup"
"OK, Off you go then"

All this with full disguise on (tinted visor, etc).
