I have a 1989 zxr250 with 40k on the clock. It has been realy used in the last few years by the previous owner. I have been using it as a daily driver and the odd blast. All was going well, untill i noticed some oil had been spread down the side to me exhaust. removed fairings and thort it was coming from the oil line from the oil pump/sump to the head. replaced both o-rings and changed oil and filter. degreased the lot and cleand it up. rode about 20 km home and had oil every where again. just had another look and have spoted a small crack in the top the cam cover. rite next to the edge in where i think the timeing chain is housed and centered between the cams. it looks to me like its been impacted from the inside and obviously squirts oil wen running. it runs fine and dosn't seem to loud (rattles etc). im new to bikes so any help would be appreciated. i will ask sum guys in our weilding dept. to see if they can weild it up.
But, wat caused it? is there something damaged in there? does it need to come apart? any1 else come across this?
