just get the big fixered. I don't think I could see you on another bike ...ever.
I think mrs Jats might struggle with the top heavyness of a klr compared to the Ten.
Funnily enough the Ten is the only bike I've sat on & found it "just right" so i know what you mean.

I thought they had all the bits to adjust them & stuff? Or the adjusters are broken?

Yes, fully adjustable, BUT he can't get the compliance of JMJ's bike, even after the shock has been rebuilt. That means its twitchy in the gravel, & I don't think he's got the confidence in the bike to take it into the dirt. So he's still using the BMW...
IT'S JUST BETTER WHEN THERE'S TWINS INVOLVED..

Yeah but who cares about the springs, the sound from that thing still brings a grin to my face, even the neighbours liked it early on a sunday morning, but they're bike people too
Also.... the p.o. was about my height and maybe a wee bit heavier, and rode the bike like it was designed to be riden

Yeah Padmei but whats gunna breakdown next, it's gettin old y'know. I'd like to try an @ and an xtz and a 1150gs. I/we need bikes touring bikes that can do mild 4wd tracks and gravel which is where our riding takes us
Maybe this needs another thread all of it's own instead of filling up N.A.D.S. thread

Hey Jatz. Since you seem to like all things retro (old) what about this?

It does have very good ergonomics.

Yup, it seems the rear shock has been revalved to make it much harder. It handles fantastic on the road but on loose surfaces has a tendency to skittle across the surface, not mould to and follow the contours.
I would be open to offers right now. I have too much other stuff on to be trying to figure out what to do and spend the money.

They have adjustable everything, and separate high and low speed adjustment for some settings. When I got it the damping adjuster on the bottom of the rear shock was seized at a setting that was way to hard. A common enough problem on these and I spent $1100 notes getting the entire lower shock mount replaced as there's no easy fix. I can now feel the shock working.

Right again. I get about 1/4 of the sag of JMJ's bike, if that. Even backing the preload right off to nothing only affects how harsh the ride is, I don't get any more sag. It's ok at low speed but I don't have the confidence to ride it fast in the gravel, plus it's so high I can barely touch the ground, whereas I find JMJ's bike quite comfortable. In rougher terrain I would be stuffed as I'd never be able to put my foot down firmly.

    In at cycletreads & saw a nice new MT21 & rear E07.
    Mmmmmmm...
Clive happily helped me put them in the van as the original purchaser couldn't come up with the money soon enough.

I could be tempted to sell them to anyone local for a not so exorbitant markup

Any of you fella's gonna do the Lamb Valley Laid Back on 30 May? Do I bother trying to talk wifey into letting me bring the XR250R up to NN when we visit that weekend? If so whats the normal cost, what's the "rules" i.e. spark arrestor, boots and helmet? NMCC rules page looks like it is all about MNZ level race events. Also what is the terrain up Lamb Valley like - wet soft dirt and grass or dry hard clay and gravels?

Did a trail ride at Spotswood on Sunday and what a blast. I'm sore as but hooked! Old XR got a bloody good hiding and stood up to the modern big boys pretty well.

    Cheers R
