Nordie I still have your radio. I think these are a great idea to take on a ride - easy to find out what bits have fallen off Hondas.
The good thing with the FCR or TM carbs on the DR is people have already done the work and got the jetting pretty well sussed for most exhaust/altitude combos.

    No idea about klr's though.

More radios would be more betterer.
Today was the first time I've used them and they came in handy. Pop the batteries out or they'll run flat in no time.

You mean you could download it & read it in one night? But it had more than one photo!!

Wow Mot's really the technology center of the TOTS.

Wait... you went to the library again didn't you.

Will pick up the vids at some stage.

from what I have read the flatsides on klrs are a dog. Very hard to tune and have fitment problems due to starter motor etc. Why mess with (almost) perfection.
Sorrry should be on klr thread.

    Great RR padmei.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

You obviously haven't ridden ZeraxsDR. I was so smooth thru the whole twist of the throttle. Made me realise my bike has a huge flatspot or something halfway thru - maybe a good tune is in order...

well it was a good day yesterday

and today mate oly and i revisted it and alot more of the area in there, followed an older guy in a white ute, had a klx450r, stopped and talked to him, found out about different way to get in, just round from jacobs? creek?., was a fucking bonus cause we thought we'd just fluff round manga track, then we spent whole day in hira/sharlands whatever loving it!

we did alot of leet as uphills and downhills, theresa so much shit in there its crazy,

also anyone have a how-to tutorial on getting up the extreme downhill mountainbike track ?
we gave it a good crack for sure, but the lack of traction was killer @_@

someone has killed alot of goats along one of the fence lines ( the closest one to nelson i think ) ,was smelly !

Stay away from the mountain bike tracks - repeat stay away from the mountain bike tracks. There's enough mental drops without pissing off the MTBers

You see why I ride there nearly every weekend. There's something for everyone & 5mins from home. In fact it would be cool to have a key for the top so we could go in from Dodsons valley (where I live).

    ... and the forest managers.

If they were still running the permit system you would have received an information pack telling you all mtb tracks are out of bounds, as are their bridges & other paraphernalia.

And be aware the forest isn't generally open during the week due to logging operations, only weekends during daylight hours.
    Cheers,
    Colin

MTB tracks are not a good idea.

Even a certain Australasian DH Champ has only talked about getting up the DH track.

I had lots of problems just walking down it.

Are the MTB tracks marked as such?

didnt know it was a "MTB" park

the older guy we were talking to talked about a 30km loop he does, including a slippery rock climb, so of course when we got down there, we saw this slippery rocky starting area and thought cool, lets go up there

little did we know he hadnt gone up there, and upon returning down after tiring out and failing, got down to the carpark and realised theres a sign there showing all the "MTB" tracks and all the roads

where we got in there were some guys fencing when we got back, he said we'd still be able to get in there, and its just for occasional stock.

it is a big area ;0!, older guy just advised to keep clear of the logging operation and the truck roads and it'd be fine ;OOOOOOOO

    awesome place

Ummm, maybe because the mtb tracks are tighter and more challenging = more fun?

What we need to do is get permission to build some single-track for motorbikes, maybe in the middle of the block up near/between Lud Saddle and the saddle closest the caretakers cottage, somewhere in there.
    Cheers,
    Colin

I wouldn't actually take what the older guy said as gospel re just 'staying away from the logging sites & you'll be right' unless he's the head honcho forestry manager (which I strongly doubt).

It's been pretty common local knowledge that the forest is off limits to everyone except forestry workers during the week & they let us have our play time in the weekends & daylite evenings.

Having used the forest & surrounding areas for nearly every weekend for the last 12 years running, mtbing, orienteering, tramping & for the last 2 years motobiking, the last thing I want to see is anyone being denied access.

Motorbikes during work hours could endanger that access. I suggest sticking to the weekend for ripping it up & stay off any MTB tracks.

Saturday the 17th. Anybody want to do a bit of a Dusty pre run for Nelson down to Golden Downs, back over Hope Saddle then back around to Tadmore and back to NN. The top end of the route in the google earth KML file here.

    Cheers R
