I won't be able to make the ride due to the DRZ being in dirt trim for the XC on the 18th, would be keen for a beer either on sat night or after the XC on sunday tho.

Awesome! I have a cunning plan involving your 4.8N/mm fork springs, the 200EXC fork leg outers/front wheel/brakes, and the 640 damping cartridges.

Need to be fitted/tested before Sunday's XC race.
    Cheers,
    Colin

Awesome vid Fran, liked the slow motion XLR sideways earlier on, shame about the falling off moments later...I'm going to get to the top of the hill on the XLR eventually.

In related news there are no stator gaskets for the DR250 in the coutry so they're air freighting one in for me, I have a stator off a running bike so we may yet get to the bottom of the DR250 saga!

If they were still running the permit system you would have received an information pack telling you all mtb tracks are out of bounds, as are their bridges & other paraphernalia.

And be aware the forest isn't generally open during the week due to logging operations, only weekends during daylight hours.

I suggest you ring these numbers: 03 5448541 & 03 5438115 before advising anyone that it is legal to be in any forest in Nelson. Because unless you are on a public road it's not! and its not the brightest thing to be posting video of yourselves and your bikes (complete with rego numbers) on the internet.

Unless I'm completely mistaken I thought the sign at Sharlands stated the forest is open during the weekend & during summer evenings & states the closing time. If this is incorrect I would have thought the gates would remain locked (&/or barricaded where access is open beside them).

What post are you referring to where anyone is advising it is legal to be in any forest in Nelson.

While there might not be any actual legal right to ride in the Hira i've personally spoken to a number of guys who have been logging up there who support the Dirtbike guys 100% (aparrently we dont put nails in trees like the mtb guy's who build ramps etc), especially us adv lot who MOSTLY ride like nannas. Not the forrest owners obviously but at least we have somewhere to go as long as nobody fucks it up by doing something stupid.

Slightly off topic; does anyone here live close to the airport? Myself and two friends are cycling around the south island, starting in Nelson on the 3rd of jan next year. Looking at couriering our cycles to Nelson and collecting / reassembling them there after hoping off the iron bird. Lettuce know if you can help by receiving the said courier packages

Good point. Who is the closest and willing to receive 3 large boxes from a courier then? Of course there would be a sum of beer involved for the trouble etc.
