Several of us are popping down to the Morehouse Ave Burger King carpark to meet the roadies and then splitting off for some twilight dust.
Also if you post up a want to ride with suggestions you'll almost gaurinteed to get company on most weekends.
    Cheers

    Well......
I thought it would be a good evening to test ride the new wilbers stickers up mt Arthur, usually a good corugated piece of road where you can wind on the power.
Total let down, lower piece past the community was like rideing on marbles, then the bit up the hill after the gorge, some turkey's gone and put a grader over it, Arrggggh.
Still it was a nice ride anyway, stickers have made a world of diffrence to the handling IMHO

The Maitai Road up to the dam has just had a grader over it as well, it's like marbles under the front, but good for rear wheel driftin! Needless to say there's some nice snakey tyre tracks in the fresh gravel now.

Unlikely to make it; I'm doing the Hokey Pokey at the moment with the forks:

You put your left leg out
you put your left leg in,
you put your right leg out
and you shake it all about...

Have a good one, don't go off-track and fall down any holes!!
    Cheers,
    Colin

Struan and I will then spend Wed Thurs Fri exploring the tracks in the Murchison/Reefton area most probably staying in Reefton so we don't have to carry much gear with us.

We were planning to hopefully include the following:
(all lifted from Ryans excellent site)
New Creek to Denniston - Maybe on Wed on way to Reefton)
    Waitahu River
    Big River
    Napoleon Hill
    Gows Creek
    Lake Hochsetter
    Mount Fox

We are interested any other (polite) suggestions you guys might have on other tracks or if any of the above are too knarly for the KLR and its pussy rider (Struan will be on the DT230)

Our plans are super loose and weather dependent but anyone is welcome to tag along.

    cheers

Glad the site is working for you. The intent was for "out of towners" to find their way around. I'd suggest that you keep a close eye on the weather cause the Mackley river (New Creek to Denniston route) is pretty sensitive to rain and can easily get to high to cross. It the west coast tradition it does go down pretty fast as well though. Other thing is that I've not been into the Waitahu River and I understand it has some sections of large boulders that could be hard to ride.

Are we still meeting you in Hanmer - I take it that you are not getting that far south?

    Cheers R

I'm up for some weekend riding for sure. Thanks for that. Would love to give the lees valley ride a go at some stage. Daylight preferably as I'm finding off road stuff makes me realise road riding only prepares you for road riding. Not in Kansas anymore Dorothy.

Last night up to Harwoods Hole was fun.
    Nice and warm too.

    Ready to go from Mot...

Over the Mot River and into the unknown...

    Ohh yeah...
    Some good evening views...

    Back over the Riwaka Valley.

    And back over Mot/Nelson.

Stop halfway and let some air out.
28f/30r isn't ideal for gravel with rocks in...

    And we're there...

That was all the camera batteries could handle.

The run back was sweet and down the hill was... Well... Incredible.

19 degrees type warm and no wind.

The full moon flashing into view around corners and all you can see ahead is the pristinely clean road surface and the corner you're doing.

It seemed like an endless set of perfect corners pushing you and your tyres (MT21 race slicks) to the limits.
