The Altimarlock road is about 60km north of the Molsworth locked gate. It is open all year around though there is illegal "private property" signs on the gate. Definitely worth the ride up there when the view is good.

Went for a cruise over to Hopewell which is at the end of the road around the Keneporu Sounds. There is an amazingly laid back upmarket backpackers there.

Lots of windy gravel & a bit of a track over the back which we didn't get a real chance to explore but next time

There were myself on Gonzo the big green F. Crazyfrop on the KTM 640 & the twins pipi & fifi on the his & hers KTM950SM & 690 Duke. Needless to say there was a lot of sliding going on with the road tyres on the SM's

We met up with the crusty dusty crew on top of the Manaroa saddle. There were some nice bikes including a very cool lil Sherpa out on its maiden long trip

Night views are better from Mt Campbell apparantly even if it's just to the locked gate.

Yep, nice weekend up the Kenepuru with Padmei and the KTM twins. Need to go back again with some extra fuel and explore some more of the side roads/ tracks, just not in January when all the loopies are around.
Note to self...don't be a smart arse and keep backing the KTM into corners on the gravel, coz it will eventually bite back. But if Padmei didn't see it, it didn't happen!
I think I'm gonna buy me a motard, they seem to like gravel too.

    You'll keep crazyfrog

If anyone is interested in a different type of adv trou, the ones I am wearing in the photos are Hard Yakka work trou with patches on the knees that allow pads/ armour to be inserted. Along with pockets for everything they are cotton so are cool to wear & extremely comfortable. I thought about scotch guarding the bottoms for those water crossings.

Now can someone suggest some way of getting rid of big brown stains?

How many times have you taken the bike back to the shop complaining of an unpleasant smell especially after long slippery downhills.

Buy big brown pants, then at least no-one will notice.

    "Are they brown camo pants?"

    "Yes, I made them myself!"
    Cheers,
