I did the same thing when I followed you guys when I was on Schmidtty that day. The Furtherst Malcom rd just turns into forestry skid sites. Back tracking I saw the 'other' malcolm road but wasn't confident that it would join up to anything.
Would have been an interesting discussion when the two forstry sign posters got together & talked about their day

@ Nordie... Mrs J rekognized the front guard when we saw you pulling out of " Tasman View rd" I thought the helmet looked familiar

@ Woodman.... If you'd joined us on a past rideout we went through that track from the Elaine Bay end ( if it's the one I'm thinking of) It's not a bad sort of track, any moisture and going up from the Tennyson end is pretty hard work, ask Underground Actually, I think coming down would get a little "interesting" too , Should do it again soon

    They join up.
I've just got to put it on a map and see how they can join up in a little shorter manner than today...

I don't think next weekend's tides would be favourable to an Anatori blast?

I was wondering if that was the one. I don't think the track is ever dry going by how dry the surrounding area is and how wet and slimey the track is. Coming back i got stuck on the tiniest incline, had 4 or 5 goes and had to turn back up the track, turn round again and hit it at speed. Wasn't pretty but made it. It comes out right in the centre of the village.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

When we went over it was dry with moss on some bits.
Would be fun with 705's though

That slippery bit has stopped me a couple of times, It is easiest done from the Elaine Bay end.
I've done it on the AT from EB with just that little incline you speak of making me sweat for 30min or so
Just got back last nite after spending a few days up the Cobb in the bus.....nice, must go up there again sometime on motorcycles. Looked like a lot of bikes had been thru to French pass.

So man of the Wood. Tell us - what are your intentions re motorcycles? Is the KLR not ticking the boxes anymore? What could be lacking? Power? handling? Character? No none of those I think.
Perhaps merely thinking of a change?

Righto, we are in Nelson & planning some riding. Rough idea for tomorrow is to go out French Pass / Kenepuru way, probably camp or stay somewhere overnight. Will be back in town Thurs night so if anybody wants to meet at the Free House for an ale that will be the time.

Over the weekend a look up the Rainbow, into Maling & Edwards & camp somewhere is on the cards.

    Cheers
    Clint

Dunno really, just looking really, but to be honest can't find anything that ticks as many boxes. Note " as many"

    Power?, Has enough.

Handling? pretty bad but can still be punted along ok.

    Character? shitloads.

Gonna keep it for years I think, its at a stage where its pretty well suited for what we do although the next farkle is a more comfy seat as I am liking longer rides at the moment, and anyway its worth sweet fa.

Sunny Nelson? We decided to pass on French Pass yesterday for obvious reasons.

If anybody wants to meet up for a beer we will be at the Free House 8ish tonight.

Weekend plan is to head of up towards the Rainbow tomorrow morning - hopefully being guided through a few interesting diversions on the way there by CrazyFrog. Then meet up with Rosie's parents in their 4x4 & camp somewhere, maybe in over Edwards Pass.

    Cheers
    Clint
