Ok its raining & blowing, my back's playing up again, it's prob cold outside but warm in the windowseat with the laptop & I have to get to blenheim today.
I thought it would be a good idea to ride over the Maunga, round Queen charlotte, thru Picton & round Port Underwood to arrive at Blenheim from Rarangi.
That was when it was dry & sunny. it's not now.
Oh yes it is really pissing down right at the moment - sideways in fact.
I have road tyres on with road pressures & the rocks will be slippery as... well you know the rest.
Should I still go that way?

I have a dodgey collar bone thanks to going off that wooden bridge half way up the Maunga in the rain one afternoon and that says go the other way...
Still if you actually slow down for it, it's still slippery as all hell, but you'll make it across, not in the drink like i did![]()

Rode up town and there was quite a bit of flow at Riverside...
Warewolf rode the Urban MTB tonight. But was showing off and did 4 laps...
Actually, I really wasn't going to do it but NordieSisInLaw was racing and laughed and said I should do it on the road bike and the rest of the group laughed and, well, you know the rest...
Anyone doing any ridiing in the weekend? I've got the annual labour weekend working bee at stalag Underwood but from the sounds of it it's gonna be crapola weather anyway. If it was gonna be good I'd take Snotso over for a fang.
BTW I saw a printout of the to do list for getting a bike permit for the forest - they clamping down on that yet? I didn't see anyone on the gate when I went thru on Sat.

I want to go into Hira but need to get rid of this heartburny thing first...
Apart from the group I rode with setting up the enduro, I don't think I've seen a permit tag on a bike yet.
I think they're still handing out trespass notices left and right though...
The ride i did on Sunday in the Dovedale forest was awesome. Pretty much all new tracks to me. One of the best exploring rides I have done since discovering the Porika.
Went in at spooners car park then Trass valley then Nesbits, Brandy creek, Brads road, rimu gulley, Stanley brook. various creek crossings and just rough enough.
Cool.
Might make it a regular.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
Nordie 'n Warewolf do the Urban MTB Race...
1st lap...
I've hardly done anything in there apart from getting from Tap to Spooners...
Eatwell is another good one to play in, although a GPS was needed to get me out of there...
You can go from Spooners through Panic Mac, Te Hepa and end up in Sunrise Valley. A long ride even if you don't do any side bits...
Up the forestry roads West of Tap is cool too. Good views of the snow from there...
This guy knows how to do vids...
