The bit I'm trying to find is actually public road according to one of the landowners.
You hang a right over the Tap bridge and left onto Glenrae Road and go from there.

Looking at leaving Nelson about 11am and heading off through the moutere, old coach, rosedale, jacobs, sunday creek, panic mac, spooners (maybe to raey saddle) and back to Nelson.
Should be around 3hrs or so.

    Well that was fun.
There was a gate across Panic Mac Road and a guy cutting wood right there so I didn't go up that one. Played around over in Tapawera and Coronation Forest for 4 hrs instead

Jeez Nordie, how 'bout some more notice next time, and you might get some company, it'll give the boys a chance to fire up the computer, then get their shit together and put on their gear. It takes me an hour and 10 mins just to get outta bed..... unless I can smell bacon cooking

Maybe a bit of Castrol R in the tank would do it?

It wasnt like I got lost or anything...

It's a bit lower and clearer than when Padmei and I woosed out.

But a really soft shingle base still makes for water in boot...

Bluddy know-it-all smart arse sheep looking down their noses at you...

    Gorge Road dead(ish) end.

My bike is on the other side of that. It ended up too thick to walk through and the bike would just bounce back out when I pulled the clutch in...

    Another dead end...

    Coronation Forest rest area.

I didn't get anywhere I was intending to but inadvertantly discovered a really nice loop over in Tap

Had a look up the Boundary Rd/Ben Nevis loop this arvo. Great weather and top views. Think I might have gone down the same MB track you did, Nordie!

Slightly off the topic - but I've now put about 400kms on the bike.
Noticed today when I got home that the coolant reserve tank was showing 'L'. When I picked the bike up from dealer, it was 1/2 way between 'F' & 'L'. Is it unusual for this to get low this soon?
Ive checked for leaks, but none visible. Also, any suggestions on coolant brands to top it up?
Finally, Ive been told the higher octane fuel, the better. This true? Im making a point of filling up with the new V Power (95) stuff at Shell.

Topo and Jatz did it on the ride up there but they got to have a look down it first before setting off

Just keep it up to halfway - No probs.

Use the lowest octane the bike will run nicely on.
The DR prefers 91 and even my old Nordie (water cooled 558cc single with 48hp) liked 91 best.

If it pinks or pings go up a grade.

How about the highest fire lookout in New Zealand? Top of the Reay saddle turn left on the {Nelson side}(forestry road) follow the road up to the lookout.

Did Olivers Road to Spooners today and Trig S looks like a nice addition and Rabbit Gully is where the motorsport area may go. But I really want to link up Spooners and Sunday Creek

Went thru porika yesterday with a mate but didn't get thru. There are trees down in the way. We got over a few smaller ones ok but had to slide Gonzo the big Fat F over one medium sized one then hit a messy big trunk. We probably could have got him over but time was ticking on & didn't want to risk hitting another big one - we were pretty stuffed by then.

So until someone clears the road I would n't suggest anyone go thru there unless they were on a Pit bike!!
