Just put a knobblie on the front and a nubblie on the rear and am going up Hira tomorrow too.

Might do the show in the morning then lunch and Hira.

Meet at my place before heading up?

Well the bro-in-law has abandoned the idea of riding as a team.
    He's Ironmanning it

    So....
Either I find a teammate or I also Ironman it.

Get the CT sorted Mr Jatz

Put the E07s on today( only took about an hour- I'm getting better) & went for a 20min blast around Hira. Shit I am really impressed with them.

For a more road biased tyre they were great going up Bobs Fern 1. No probs at all on loose rock, NO sideways action at all on gravel (yeah ok I do ride like a nana but gave it a bit coming out of the corners & held in there really tight), & good on the odd bit of mud. Very confidence inspiring...

Now I take the great grip to be due to the nice hard edge cos they're new. How long do you think before they'll lose that edge & get looser? Will they get noticeably looser?

Topo I'm taking it you're putting knobs back on for the ironman?

ps. The cruisy ride put me in a pretty mellow reflective mood & not wanting to sound too zen or girly soppy I appreciate the help & advice I've had from fellow Kbikers over the past year, (gonna go & get a Guy Ritchie movie to harden myself up a bit now)

Suggestion: Have at least 2 pairs of goggles, wet or dry. That way you can grab a fresh, clean pair every lap, even if you don't need fuel. You'll want them. Pit crew can prep the second pair while you're out.
    Cheers,
    Colin

    Do it.

Shane has found a new (old) muffler for it that only has holes where they traditionally are so it'll be a bit quieter.

The rubber compound is really good on them.
    Good grip until they're bald.

20psi and they'll go over anything.
    32psi on the road.

Yip the EO-7's are purely for obtaining WOF's, will be running a brand spanking new set of rubbery things for the 6hr

Noride (and anyone else coming for a ride tomorrow) i'll try and have the eo7's swapped and be in nelson by 2.30-3.00pm, do you stil want to meet at your place? or maybe meet at sharlands at 3pm?

Don't worry about the CT Nordie, it's sitting behind the shed with about 7psi in both tyres, just waiting for the opportunity to cut loose.Should be good for a 6 hr outing, I rode it round the house last w/end
Would bring it along tommorrow but mrs Jatz doesn't want to be hangin about waiting for me.
BTW how long is the course on this 6hr thingy you fullahs are on about ?

Really gonna have to, methinks. Will cost me for a race licence but should be needing it next year anyway... fingers crossed. Will talk later.

We will have to form a team/share pit/crew with Topo. I've even thought up a name: Nelson Adventure Noddys Amalgamated (NANAs).

From my race log 2007: 32.5km laps, 6 laps in 6hr03min (ie missed starting 7th lap by 3 mins). Warm rainy day, foggy up top. Terrain: Mix of hardpack/gravel forest roads, boulder-strewn hill-climbs and flats. Some firm clay uphills, long descents. Position 27/50 in Ironman class. Avg moving laptime was about 45 mins. The fog was an issue as it hid the track ahead in some fast ridge-top sections.

Tyres were Bridgestone Gritty ED661 front (a little worn) and BF Goodrich Crossengo rear (new), I was happy with them. The road-legal rears are popular because they last the distance; stuff like the Crossengo, Michelin AC10 etc. MX tyres last a 3hr XC but sometimes struggle with the 6 hr, especially with the large forestry road component (something like 2/3 the track distance, 1/2 the time), so "they" advised me.
    Cheers,
    Colin

2:30 at home or 3pm at Sharlands sounds good.

Got the light seat and side covers on.
