3hr, i'm just entering as part of the NMCC XC series, Probably should have waited till the non-national rounds as only the 3 best results of the 4 rounds count but told javahead i'd be there.
Plus this is my first real step in the long process in getting ready for the 2011 Aust safari, I really have to learn to ride before i spend money i don't have racing in aus.

Didn't get up to the race. I built 3 raised veggie beds instead
Did get up Sharlands though.
Went to the northern and southernmost corners.
So far I really like these Shinko E705's
Gravel, hardpack, shale, rocks, loose dirt, they seem to be able to do it all.
Got up and down all the usual places and even got down (slowly) the shaley hill Padmei hasn't got up yet.
Cross posted to the tyre thread...

Normally the Nelson 3- and 6-hours don't have a sighting lap. Blenheim's 2-hour races have a sighting lap.
Also, the track arrows are only there to guide you for the first lap: after that, you are supposed to remember it all and they take no responsibility for arrows going missing for various reasons!!
C'mon topo, tell us how you got on!![]()

Well...... Turns out i'm not the xc ledgend i once thought i wasI ended up completely fecked by the 2.5hr mark, stoped to fuel up and straighten my back up (bars too close on the drz) and never got back up. ended up 42nd out of 45 nelson riders. I'm really happy with the way i rode but was really let down but my fitness and was really quite un-nerved having the fast guys come past clipping my bars on the way through a number of times, i saw 105-110km/h on the speedo before refocusing on where i was going and was being passed like i was on a clapped out ct110 on original tires.
Can't wait till the next round, this time i'll go right through to the 3hr mark if it kills me! Really have to remember to drink, only drank about .5l from my cammelback in the 2.5hrs of riding.
Nordie, can you ask shane if he'll do some lessons? happy to pay fuel/beer/tires (or even money if it comes down to it)
Zerax, start training cos it'll hurt!![]()

I think you learnt a lot from yesterday Topo.
Underestimating who you're riding against, hydration, slow release carbs, core muscle strength, bike set up...
Endurance events, no matter what sport are designed to make you hurt.
Good on ya for signing on. I hope to one day participate in some of these events.
yep ...fitness.
Just imagine if you could ride for the whole 3 hours like you did in the first 15 minutes.
I remember back in the day that racing was way easier and bettere and less crashy when my fitness was good for the footy season. Still wasn't much good but definitely better than unfit.
You have a benchmark now.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
The only people I've beaten in a cross country are those who pulled out.
But I did beat them
I've finished every one I've entered so far.
