Does look like it's a private road. It's not on the Tasman roading database.

He gave me permission to go there a month or two ago, but just not during lambing season. A face to face visit and friendly chat always helps with gaining access to certain areas.
Nothing mentioned about a koha in this case.

A hah, so it was YOU ! just kiddin

His excuse was he'd had bikes in there in the past and they ripped up the track. I think it may be private, I knew the guy who built it, way back when...... he's dead just now and the last time I went up there it was a $5 "donation" per vehicle to get access

    Hi JATZ
Would have been keen for a trip up Mt Murch - but still OK for any other ideas - iron bridge to denniston? or whatever?
    Cheers

I won't be goin far this weekend, at this stage. Clarence reserve the following weekend, and Big river, Waitahu with the boy the w/end after that.

So I went in to AFM today

"You want what?" she says, "but they don't start until 11th December? The signs only went up yesterday!" Ah, long story short, they're not ready for applications yet. It'll be a couple of weeks till it is all finalised. There will be an application form on the website, and IIRC they're not issuing the permits until 6th December.

Like days of old, you will get an info pack with a tag, maps and other stuff. Cost is $120/year, $60/6mths, $30 for 3 months.

Access will be for Hira and Moutere North. She gave me a draft map of Moutere North, which is basically the block bounded by Eve's Valley, Pigeon Valley Rd and includes the Supplejack Rd area and Johnsons Rd area. The only entrance is via Arterial Rd at the top of the Dovedale Hill. There are also some exclusion zones within that boundary eg back of the sawmill.
    Cheers,
    Colin
