    Well that was even gorserer.

I finished off the rest of the tracks and also went along some a bit further than yesterday.

Did the run up past the start of the Mt Duppa walk and also found a bit off the Lost Highway that may link to the "left or right" bit.
I went up top to that bit and went left for a bit but would need help to get further.

A good machete and a hand saw would clean some of the tracks up quite well.

Off to get me some fush 'n chups now.

Went up the Mangatapu this morn, good ride, but came home 4 hours later covered in blood.
Her indoors says "Oh no, WTF happened to you????"
I turned around and she saw the hindquarters of a deer strapped to my back.

They really are too heavy to pack out on a bike, let alone drag a kilometer out of the scrubby gully wearing mx gear.
Bit of a bugger, forgot to talk my camera for the headshot, a nice 8 pt stag.

Now THAT'S what I call adventure riding.

Mmmmm, venison backstraps and leg steaks for the freezer.

    How fast were you going?

Normally they run away before you get close.

Nope, it was a freshie from the bush. Met a hunter on the track who needed a hand to carry it out. His dogs had bailed it and he killed it with a knife. He was a bit disappointed he didn't catch any pigs. Real kiwi joker that one, not a rough bastard, nice bloke.
Of course the stag was at the bottom of the gully near the creek. Fresh meat is bloody heavy when it's not sitting in a nice poly tray wrapped in cling film and you've gotta haul it up through the scrub, bashing through gorse, manuka, and the like.
