    Ahh...

    Up or down?

    Up'd be Linton Hill.
Down'd be off Sharlands toward Hurricane.

A motley bunch of motorcycles gathered in front of the Emporium eager for another afternoon of debauchery & revedness. Fluufy cat, Umopom, Nordie, Jatz, Woodman & myself taking the green piece of shit out for the 1st time in ages.
    We met Peteblen at Pelorus

First stop for me to take pics. Nordie sizing up the Heringa Stream. From the bridge it looked a lil deep & the entry up the bank is sketchy most times let alone after the severe flooding Nelson's had.

    Ooooooh I found the zoom

Kinda got there but not enough traction at the bottom

OK he wanted to ride thru a stream & up a slick track on road tyres now he needs help. "Lets forget about him & ride off" was going thru everyones minds but I said it out loud. I do that sometimes. Sometimes saying things like that out loud has got me in trouble. I type things like that now- I've learnt

They're a good bunch these guys. I was content to be the official photog.

I nearly had Woodman parked up my date when I quickly stopped to take this shot of the river

I always seem to run out of batteries during these rides.

Tiptoeing down Hurricane Hill. Some puckering going on here

I had a really good ride. The first time i've been off road for ages. And prob the first time I haven't fallen off - Obviously not pushing myself

Someone donking your rear tyre wouldn't have helped either

Actually that's mighty tempting. We are at the mo making plans to come to Welly for a couple of days around the 4-6th. We could extend it maybe.
Even if that doesn't work i'd love to catch up for a coffee with the Welly airhead group & look at / ride (only around the block) a couple of similar bikes to compare a few things.
    We'll talk later.

I reakon Pohara would be good for some "impromptu" beach racing. Plenty of holiday makers for a slalom course

"Fuck" is a good word to use in circumstances like these.

getting around the closed section of the Matai Road on 31 Dec

    Hi Everyone,

    there are four of us leaving Christchurch on Boxing Day with plans to be in Mouteka on 30 Dec and hopefully ride the Maungatapu to Poloris on 31 Jan (We are flexible about the time of day). We had this advice on the Mangatapu thread;

"I would suggest if anyone is wanting to ride the Maungatapu but are now unsure of how to get there from Nelson they post up here or in the Nelson rideouts thread & someone could volunteer to guide them thru the forest roads around the closed portion of the Maitai road."

We will be offline from tomorrow so woujld really appreciate any help and a phone contact. My cell is 021 043 7447

    thanks

    Ken
