I'm a starter after 3pm if an evening ride is on the cards, seeing we have so much daylight now. Where to? How bout' start with the Mangatapu, Rai Valley, tarseal to Duncan Bay, then ride the pylon track from Penzance to Elaine....back to Admiralty for you, home to Nelson for the rest of us. Any idea of condition of the pylon track?

Pylon track is too hard for the big bikes unless its real dry , topo and I tried it a while back unsucessfully , so we might have to break that one in with the 400's sometime .
Im thinking of heading to Nelson via Maunga in the morning with no particular agenda , but wouldnt mind including mt Arthur at some stage during the day as I havent been up there for ages .
Can organise to be in town round 3 tho for a ride and I will head home later under the cover of darkness

I'd love to, but turns out that riding without a correctly functioning opposable right thumb would mean that i'd have to ride the "missus's" SL230 just to let you boys keep up

Seriously tho, will be up for it in a few weeks

Anyone doing anything this Sunday (14th)?
Wairoa Gorge was fun t'other night, a little bit of water damage up the top, making some little side excursions a bit more interesting. Lookin forward to some river crossings up the gorge road when the levels come down a bit.
On a nice hot day, when me and the bike feel like a swim

4-5 chances to get air ranging from just a little to "I can fly" type air.

The track was a bit rough in patches and my arms copped a real hammering.
Halfway up a hill is not the place you normally expect a boghole on the racing line but it kept everyone a little closer together.

    Great fun

Got up to 68kph going down the back straight (inc big jump) and into a tight left/right 90 deg chicane.

The XR feels like it's got a dirty mainjet as it was only dropping the revs after 10 secs or so which made for some brown pants moments when you're relying on engine braking going into the corner

    The fun races were:
pony express (2 people, 1 bike, alternating laps)

2-up race (2 people on the bike, 2 laps, swap rider after 1 lap - 2-up over jumps looks awesome )

le-mans start (bungy start, run 100m up the hill, around the trailer, down the hill, jump on the bike and do 3 laps - running in full MX armour is... interesting)

egg race (2 eggs taped to your seat, 4 laps, 1st person across the line with no broken eggs wins)

adult/child race on childs bike (alternating laps)

Oh, and just to be even more politically incorrect we had a lolly scramble too

    A good day out...

Oh and I rode over and back via the Dove Hill and Sunday Creek.

Took Mrs Padmei on the back of the bike out to Hopewell Backpackers in Kenepuru sounds this weekend & what a blast. Great windy roads, good food & interesting conversation with travellers.

Those who haven't been should pay the place a visit. Approx 2 1/2 - 3 hrs from Nelson with spectacular scenery.
