Retains the shaft drive, hmmmmm, I didnt think the VFR had ever had a shaft driveFor that purpose, Honda retains the shaft final drive and the single-sided swingarm that is a VFR specific feature![]()
Sooo much photoslop out there.![]()

Honda has announced a few new bikes for 2009 The one that interests me and will a lot of other Honda fans is the fact that Honda is putting the V5 motor in the new VFR model this churning out 150 pony's at the back wheel. The bike looks super but the back seat doesn't look that pillion friendly. On that alone I may have to give it a wide berth. Shame really as it's a wonderfully stylish machine.

1. It's 100% photochop'd. I work with photochop for a living, I see the indicators. IT IS NOT A REAL BIKE PHOTO.
2. Have you guys even thought of the logistics for building a V5 motor for the street. Or even the logic. Why? I mean, really, WHY would Honda do that. Name one reason. A V5 motor will be costly, not only to tool but to maintain. Honda doesn't even produce a V5 for the track anymore... so why all of a sudden make a street V5 when there is no connection to racing or ANY other street product. It's a tremendously expensive one off attempt. In the US that bike would easily cost close to what a 1098 would cost. Way outta Honda's standard price range. There's no way the Honda bean counters would allow this fantasy to happen.
Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for the VFR to be resurrected.
Whilst I agree with the spirit of your post, I would like to point you to the NR750 and Rune... it isn't totally unheard of for Honda to build bikes just because they can. I mean, who in there right mind makes a production bike with a titanium coated screen?Definitely made an impact on the world... the 916 copied all of the Japanese bikes styling cues

And I'd also like to point out that one of those bikes was a sales failure and the other was the equivalent of the desmosedici. Oh, and both are discontinued.
First the Rune, it failed and is not available anymore, the end.
Second the NR750 was flat out a race rep bike which has nothing to do with a modern VFR. An NR750 is to 1990's as the desmosedici is to 2000's. IMO, not a very viable argument because the modern VFR, especially a V5 VFR, has nothing to do with racing.
And at least the Rune was based on Honda's existing flat six, which is used in another model. But a V5? We're talking about a 100% new engine that shares nothing with any other street model OR racebike. That means $$$$$$$ for Honda R&D with a very narrow margin of return.
They sold the Rune at a loss, as well as the RC30, the RC45, and the full on CR250 and 500 Mxers. Honda pwn motoring in Japan, on 4 wheels and 2, and pull stuff like this to remind the other motorcycle manufacturers just who is Queen. In comparison, Suzuki are backyard shed assemblers, Yamaha Hobbyists, and Kawasaki's motorcycling efforts are viewed as the efforts of a crazed and deranged favoured Son of KHI- not particularly serious or threatening. To be frank, I hate parking my Kawasaki next to a Honda, not because of any of the normal NZ preoccupations with the suppossed questionable sexuality of Hondas and their riders, but because a bike of the same vintage will look less used.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
