that makes a bit more sense. sounds like people are making a big leap from patents that honda has got and a few basic assumptions.

pretty much they've combined the ideas embodied by the older vfr models and added all honda's crazy patents. And assumed honda must make a new VFR replacement someday. I think the photos however are a bit of a stretch. will have to wait and see really. Good idea on the frame however.

While there is a new VFR1000 due there is no guarantee that it would be a V5, I think the patents showed both a V4 and V5 platform, no doubt they have built both prototypes and trialled them, my guess is we will see a V4.

Huh? Capacity increase? When? This had nothing to do with Honda building a vee twin. The rules for any manufacturer since WSBK first started back in the 80's was 750 4 cylinders, and 1000cc twins. Then multis were allowed to 1000cc with restrictor plates.
Its only this season that the limit has been increased to 1200cc for twins.
The RC45 always ran a 360 degree crank.

In comparison, Suzuki are backyard shed assemblers, Yamaha Hobbyists, and Kawasaki's motorcycling efforts are viewed as the efforts of a crazed and deranged favoured Son of KHI- not particularly serious or threatening. To be frank, I hate parking my Kawasaki next to a Honda, not because of any of the normal NZ preoccupations with the suppossed questionable sexuality of Hondas and their riders, but because a bike of the same vintage will look less used.

Yes, I've seen ONE (on the street) and that's not how you run a business. I love Honda's (I have an '07 600RR) but I don't believe Honda gained ANYTHING by building the Rune. It was a huge sales failure and a huge marketing failure. At least bikes like the RC30 and 45 respectively have a racing heritage and they also built those bikes because THEY HAD TO. It's called homologation. They are forced to build so many street bikes so the race bikes can be allowed to race (hence worth taking a loss on). What relivance does a 1000cc V5 have to racing? Nothing. If anything the fact the current VFR's engine spec is more relevent to racing is hugely ironic! 800cc's (check). V4 (check). Do those specs remind anyone of anything??? lol.

If so, they will have to have done a bit of work to get the extra cc's shoehorned into the engine... <--- Honda engineer working on doing just that.

C'mon. They did oval pistons, how hard can 200 more cc's be?

    Mcn

MCN has a distribution of 1.3 million mags a week globally. I personally doubt that they wouldn't fuck around with Photoshop pictures and sacrifice that sort of revenue..... I for one can't wait to have a look at it!!

It was built almost exclusively for the Mrkn market, based on one of several concept bikes, one of swhich (the Rune prototype) got lots of positive feedback. Maybe in the execution of converting the prototype to a street model, something got lost in translation, or the price was too high.

But back to the fabled new VFR...
While I was in Italia, I saw an Italian bike magazine at a truckstop, with the cover and lead article being about the new VFR. Let's hope it was a joke, as it was fucking hideous, and bore absolutely no resemblance to any of the VFRs to date. It looked like the mutant offspring of the DN-01, a nekkid BMW, and a goat. I wish I could claw my eyes out and somehow erase the memory from my head. I am consoled by its obvious lack of VFR DNA: this points to it being either a hoax or a type-setting error.
The one useful 'fact' I did pick up when horrifiedly perusing the article was that it was a V4. If that means anything, given the erroneous nature of the article as a whole...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

MCN Just where do they get there imfomation from???

It turns out that there will be no VFR 1000 after all, the whole fukn thing was a scammed Photo Shop mock up. I don't know about you guys, but I personally get fucked of when this happens. As far as MCN goes I will never ever believe anything they print again.

    Looks like it.
